Medchain [Blockchain-Enabled Healthcare & Electronic Medical Records]
Wanna hear about a blockchain based pioneer in the field none other than the Medicine Industry. What better industry to find a blockchain based solution than medicine. Isn't it? Well, this goes above and beyond an innovative idea, it has the team, the technology and the power to put the plan in motion.
Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and electronic protected Health Information (ePHI) are required to be accssed seemlessly if a person is to enjoy a free and healthy life. But countless are the times in our lives we lose medical records and fail to produce them to our doctors. Countless are the times we take the same test agaain simply because we lost the earlier one.
There has not been a proper management system for EMR and ePHI till now. It is also noticed that Healthcare continues to lag far behind other sectors when it especially when it comes to implementing security and interoperability. It is literally costing lives and it is time for things to change. Medchain blockchain based platform has been introduced to solve nothing but this problem.
By implementing the MedChain infrastructure, they believe that healthcare providers will have access to a vastly more secure storage and transfer mechanism due to the frictionless connectivity, transparency and cybersecurity of the blockchain. Our hope is that this will ultimately improve the overall exchange of health information.
The following are the main features of the project.
- Provider Benefits - Heathcare providers can have near-instant access to medical records of new patients, and could potentially save several billion dollars each year in fines associated with data breaches.
- Patient Benefits - Patients will be able to eliminate and/or avoid redundant testing due to lack of record-sharing between providers.
- MedChain Patient App - The MedChain applications will manage medical test results and documentation and also notify users of access requests from service providers, doctors, hospitals, and health insurance providers.
- MedChain Service Provider Software - Functions as an automated intermediary of interoperability between the provider's current HIPAA-compliant software database and the MedChain blockchain and distributed storage network.
MedCoin: The MedChain Token
Their MedCoin can be exchanged for Entry Tokens (ET) to facilitate data uploads and serve as a gatekeeper for access requests retrieved through the MedChain API. MedCoin may eventually also be used to purchase rich anonymized data which could be analyzed for diagnosis automation or other uses. We believe in a token-connected world, where medical and healthcare services can be driven by MedCoin on the MedChain infrastructure.
