Reason For Secrecy

in #meaning7 years ago (edited)

Without going into detail, aliens exist. That, or maybe they don't. Either way, really, it's pretty trippy to think about.
Let's say they don't exist. So then what? We're all alone? It's not hard to believe considering the general public at large has never made contact with aliens. Here we are, all alone like a tiny little anomaly floating around aimlessly in the vast universe, infinitely less significant than a single raindrop in a hurricane. So then, what is the point? Life is whatever we make of it to take our minds off our inevitable death, until that day death comes knocking and we sail off into the nothing. Remember before you were born? Just like that. Absolutely nothing.

Now let's say that aliens do exist. What does that mean? The possibilities are plentiful. Maybe we descend from space travelling visitors? Maybe the universe is much like Earth where, if life can exist, it will exist. If you pull out a microscope, you'll find life just about everywhere on this earth. So maybe space is like that too? Maybe it would be weird if it wasn't like that? That every particle in the universe has a purpose, to feed, and nurture life in all forms.
Or maybe the universe isn't so habitable, and aliens just travel with, or without aim to different planets with, or without purpose leaving behind life intentionally, or unintentionally to flourish in good soil? Maybe.
So, will we ever know? Maybe we already do, and it's a secret kept from the general public. Is it possible to keep a secret that big? It really depends on the aliens. If they have already come and gone, there really isn't much chance of them showing up right now. Let's say they have an ongoing presence here on Earth. Do they want their presence to be known? Do they care? how many are even here? Greater numbers would mean greater chance of encountering them. Would they run and hide if we made contact, would they just pay us no mind, or would they greet us? Considering, we haven't had official contact (known to the public) it is safe to say they don't have an interest in greeting us all. They have either met with a select few people high up the totem pole, or they avoid us all together.
So, if this is the case. Then, there is some level of secrecy. If they are here, someone likely knows about it. The question now is, why is it a secret? Well, we don't keep secrets without a reason. People don't generally paper shred their grocery receipts to hide the fact that they bought groceries. People, will hide the junk food though. Maybe it's too good to share, or too bad for their health and don't want a lecture. Are the aliens, the upper hand for the elite? Or is the information devastating and better kept a secret? Like Shakespeare, "to be, or not to be" the question is, what would the ramifications be for informing the people of this world that there are aliens among us? Too good, or too bad?
If it's too good, then likely, our lives are all in vain. We are cattle, born for the open field, but enslaved in barn stalls. Purpose, reason to be here, and every breath wasted with nothing but the work week to distract us and keep us too busy to seek a deeper meaning, and the weekend to take but a moment to take a few meaningless wasted breaths of fresh air before being pulled back under into another Monday morning.
Now if it's too bad, then it must be terrifying. Maybe doomsday is around the corner, or maybe there is a truth to this reality that is unbearable? And if so, what would be so unbearable? Maybe it's simply certainty. As said by Albert Einstein, "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art, and science. He to whom the emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand wrapped in awe, is as good as dead."
What if aliens have come, given our leaders all the knowledge the universe has to offer, and that once you know it all, there is no meaning left? Where question, and wonder once stood would now lie another Monday at work. An inescapable daily grind with no surprises, no mystery, desensitized to everything. A definitive answer. Would you go mad? Can you really imagine it? Is there a God? Life after death? Imagine a 100% solid answer. No questions asked.
Yes there is a God. No, the Bible is not fully accurate. It is precisely 76.3549% false. No, there is no life after death. God, was an intelligent life form from 4.54 light years away with universal knowledge who went mad after obtaining it and wandered off and recreated life so that someone would experience the unknown, God left knowing for a short time, his creation would enjoy briefly, the unknown. That which God can never have back. How is eternity explained? It's on a loop. The course of a fractal, spiraling, constant, meaningless.
Could you handle it so plain?

@rape. You are a person of deep thought. I think it is obvious that they exist, but the universe is too vast to find them anytime soon, unless they find us (which I think we would know publicly by now). If the universe is infinite, then so is life! Best wishes - hansenator ps - make yourself an "introduceyourself" post to meet people
