မလုဆမ္သည္ နမ့္ခမ္းအနီးက ေက်းရြာတစ္ရြာတြင္ ေနထိုင္ခဲ့သည့္ အသက္ ၃၃ႏွစ္ အရြယ္ ကခ်င္ အမ်ိဳးသမီးတစ္ဦး ျဖစ္သည္။ ၂ဝ၁၄ ခုႏွစ္ ဧၿပီလတြင္ စစ္ပြဲမွတိမ္းေရွာင္ရန္အတြက္ သူ႔ခင္ပြန္း၊ သူ႔ ကေလး ေလးဦးႏွင့္အတူ ထြက္ေျပးလာခဲ့ရသည္။ သူတုိ႔သည္ အုိင္ဒီပီစခန္းတြင္ ေနထိုင္သည္။ သူ႔တြင္ တီဘီေရာဂါရွိေနေၾကာင္း ေတြ႔ရွိခဲ့ရၿပီးေနာက္ ေဆးကုသမႈခံယူေနေသာ္လည္း အေျခအေန ဆိုးရြားလာခဲ့သည္။ ထို႔ေၾကာင့္ ေနာက္တစ္ႀကိမ္ ထပ္မံစစ္ေဆးခဲ့ရၿပီး ဒီတစ္ႀကိမ္တြင္ သူမ၌ ေဆးယဥ္ပါးတီဘီေရာဂါ (MDR-TB) ရွိေနေၾကာင္း စမ္းသပ္ေတြ႔ရွိခဲ့ရသည္။ “ ဒါကၽြန္မဘဝရဲ႕ အေမွာင္ဆံုးအခ်ိန္ပဲ” လုိ႔ သူမက ေျပာသည္။ “ေယာက်္ားက ကၽြန္မကို ကူလည္း မကူ၊ ဂရုလည္း မစိုက္ခဲ့ဘူး။ ကၽြန္မ လံုးဝကို အထီးက်န္ျဖစ္ခဲ့တယ္။ ကၽြန္မမွာ ေဆးယဥ္ပါးတီဘီေရာဂါ ရွိေနၿပီဆိုတာ သိလိုက္ရေတာ့ သူနဲ႔ ကြာရွင္းဖို႔ ကၽြန္မ ဆံုးျဖတ္ခဲ့တယ္။”
စခန္းအတြင္း နယ္လွည့္ေဆးခန္းဖြင့္လွစ္ထားသည့္ MSF အဖဲြ႔က သူ႔ကို ေတြ႔ရွိခဲ့ၿပီး ေျဖရွင္းနည္းတစ္ခု ကမ္းလွမ္းခဲ့သည္။ “သူတို႔က လ ၂ဝ ၾကာမယ့္ေဆးကုဖို႔ မူဆယ္မွာ လာေနပါလားလို႔ကၽြန္မကို ေမးတယ္” မလုဆမ္က ေျပာသည္။ “ကၽြန္မ ေဆးကုတာၿပီးဖို႔ အခ်ိန္ ငါးလပဲက်န္ေတာ့တယ္။ ကၽြန္မမွာ သားႏွစ္ေယာက္၊ သမီးႏွစ္ေယာက္ရွိေပမဲ့ ႏွစ္ေယာက္ကပဲ ကၽြန္မဆီကုိ လာလည္ၾကတယ္။ ဒီက ေဆးကုၿပီးရင္ ဘာလုပ္ရမလဲ ကၽြန္မ မသိဘူး။ တရုတ္ဘက္သြားၿပီး အလုပ္သြားလုပ္မလား စဥ္းစားေနေပမယ့္ ကၽြန္မတရုတ္စကား မတတ္ဘူး။ ဒါ့ထက္ ပိုအေရးႀကီးတာက ကၽြန္မ အဲဒီကိုသြားရင္ ကၽြန္မ ကေလးေတြကို ေတြ႔ခ်င္မွ ေတြ႔ရေတာ့မွာ။ ကၽြန္မရဲ႕ရြာကိုလည္း မျပန္ခ်င္ေတာ့ဘူး။ ကြာရွင္းထားတဲ့ ေယာက်္ားကို ကၽြန္မ မေတြ႔ခ်င္ေတာ့လို႔။ သိပ္မၾကာခင္ တစ္ခုခုကို ကၽြန္မ ဆံုးျဖတ္ရေတာ့မွာ သိပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ အခုထိ အေျဖမရေသးဘူး၊ စိတ္ေတြ ရႈပ္ေထြးေနတုန္းပဲ”

Lu Sam is a 33-year-old Kachin woman from a village near Nam Kham. To escape the war, she fled the village in April 2014 with her husband and four children. They settled in a camp for displaced people. After Lu Sam discovered she had tuberculosis, she began treatment, but failed to recover. Results of further tests showed that she had multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). “It was the darkest time of my life,” says Lu Sam. “My husband didn’t support or take care of me. I was totally left alone. I decided to get divorced when I found out that I had MDR-TB.”
An MSF team running a mobile clinic in the camp offered her a solution. “They asked me to come and stay in Muse for a 20-month course of treatment,” says Lu Sam. “I only have five months left now before completing my treatment. I have two boys and two girls and only two of them have visited me since I arrived here. I don’t know what I will do after I have finished treatment. I am thinking of going to China to work but I don’t speak Chinese. More importantly I may not have a chance to see my children if I go there. I don’t want to go back to my village either, because I don’t want to meet my ex-husband. I know I have to decide something soon but I am still lost and confused.”
