Me Starting a Healthier Diet, Part 1: The Intention Doesn't Always Count but Now Is The Start of Things

in #mayhem-vegan7 years ago (edited)

For many years I have abandonned a healthier lifestyle, mostly out of pure commodity and laziness. Laziness because the initially seeming challenge to find my desires, tastes, and variety in Manila super markets and errands places.

There was nothing available when I arrived would have been the easy cop-out, and was.

Sadly enough, it was just that… a mere a cop-out.

And it has been for years. Ever since I stopped being a cheating pescatarian. Almost two decades ago, when I still lived in the Netherlands. Yes, it’s been a while.

Food mostly slid out of mind ever since. That is caring about eating healthily, not food itself. Clearly, I still loved a solid, good meal and most of my food photography efforts resulted in photos like this one.

Happy tummy result

Happy tummy affairs, indeed.

I was pretty brutal the carnivore too. Or piscivore. You name it, I ate it. Fish meat, red meat.

Raw.

Yet, in recent years, after having consumed way too much horrible processed meat too, I have decided to make a change. This in no small part directly inspired and motivated by a friend whom I’m helping in her first online, writing travails over at At Meme’s Table

Add to that the ever-growing threat of plastic, microplastics more specifically, and the decision to make changes was an easy one.

While Anthony Hopkins may have said that we have to enjoy as much as we can because nobody is gonna make it out of here alive, I absolutely wish to extend as much as possible how long I can enjoy. ;)

Nope, I’m not turning vegan. Nope, I’m not stopping to cheat.

No, no, noooooooooo!

Noooooooo

Truth is I love dairy way too much. I enjoy the odd succulent steak. Yes, I know all can be replaced with similar tastes. Maybe even better tastes. But for now I don’t see any need yet.

Yet, it could possibly happen some day. Maybe even rather soonish. As I explore and get to grips with Steemit more, I am actually going on an almost vegan trip.

Remeber the blog of my friend I earlier referenced? Well, I recently started writing a weekly feature for her. A weekly roundup of 4–6 delicious recipes I found in the Internet Tubes. Most of which I all tried out.

Many of which suffering similar fates as much awesome, painstakingly crafted, content here on Steemit… lack of traffic. Thus I, loving being a small cog in a very large machine, decided to expand her site with said featue.

And here on steemit, I will do the same. But more expansively. More recipes than I share over at At Meme’s Table. Every recipe I tried and enjoyed that week.

And if that means, while doing all that, I turn 100% vegan...

It won’t be an easy journey. It’ll be long, and arduous. But I promise you one thing: on the memory of those lying here before you, we shall find it, and Earth shall become our new home. So say we all!

So say we all

So say we all.
