The Mathematics of the Nature. Part 1

When you see a tree or an animal the last thing you will think about it is the mathematics. So today i will show you a few examples of the beautiful maths of some forms of life.

THE NUMBER φ (Phi) :

The vast majority of people do not know how perfect the shapes of some sea shells are.


This peculiar sequence is known as the Fibonacci sequence and is expressed mathematically as 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1,597 ... and if you look closely enough each number tends to be 1.61 times larger than the previous one and if you divide them for example: 1.597 / 987 = 1.61803444782. That's it! then taking this into account I will make an example with a plant in my house:
The first leave measures 4 centimeters (about 1.5 inches)

And the second 2.5 centimeters (about 0.9 inches)

So let's divide it!
4 / 2.5 = 1.6 (1.5 / 0.9 = 1.66667)
As we can see the fibonacci sequence is present in the growth of these leaves
Another example that you can also do on your own is to take your height and divide it between the height from the base of your feet to your navel, and that has to be 1.6 or a number close to 1.6.
The reason that this sequence is so common in living beings, is that it provides certain advantages when establishing proportions.
