New Logo for Math-Trail [Discuss]
I was going to post an article asking our community of artistic mathematicians and mathematical artists to design a new logo for Math-Trail. I mean, every trail uses the same little logo as their avatar so sometimes I have to look and see which trail is actually posting or commenting.
Now, by pure accident, I created this image while writing an article on the Pythagorean Theorem - and it just looks like a geometric whale, doesn't it!?
So, I'm still leaving it open to the community, whether you would like an open art competition for a new logo, or whether one of you graphic artists can take this raw image and make it into a neat logo? It will have to include the words "math-trail" or "math trail" somewhere in an organic way.
So, up to you people! If you would like an open competition, please say so in the comments; if you like the above design and know someone who can improve it, say so too.
What I don't want to happen is to run a competition and then nobody enters! So you have 7 days to think about this post, then maybe another 7 days for a competition entry.

I like it, but it should a be a bit smoothed up to really work as a logo. Now it looks too much like a math-book picture ;)

I think it'd be cool to have an open logo competition and the reply with the most upvotes gets used. (or something like that)
i think the logo is ok, but i am sure out there is some1 who can make us the perfect logo. and mathematicians deserve the most perfect logo :)

Thanks to all replies so far. The idea here is to elicit some sort of expression of interest from graphic designers and artists. This is fairly normal in larger competitions - at least we know there will be a few quality entries. It also gives longer time for the designers to have a think.
There is a problem of posting in both the mathematics and art forums, but that can be resolved with an index-post.
I'm thinking of a prize of some 25-40 SBD. We're still a pretty small trail!
It's too flat to be a logo.. or is this the pre-design (just to let someone know what you 're thinking of?) Would be cool to have a competition!! :)
Yes, it's a pre-design. As I said in the post, I used this image in another article as a diagram and it just looked like it would be a cool shape for a logo. I don't have the time or expertise to make it perfect!
