A little riddle - Free Steem for the correct answer

I just found a nice little riddle gem online. Here it it is:
"Little Hagbard brings home 100 kg of potatoes, which (being purely mathematical potatoes) consist of 99 percent water. He then leaves them outside overnight so that they consist of 98 percent water. What is their new weight?"
Please note that you will definitely find the correct answer if you look for it long enough. However, I will still send 1 Steem to the first person telling me the correct answer promising he or she didn't cheat.

The math is simple indeed but the result is very counter-intuitive IMO.

100kg: 1% := 1 kg of core, 99% := 99 kg of water, so if 98% is water and 2% is 1 kg of core therefore 100% is 50kg :)
You are right, indeed. How disappointing. I thought this would keep you guys busy a bit longer. Full disclosure: What we are dealing with here is the so called potato paradox. Your Steem is on its way. :-)
