Problem Solving Made Easy (9th Grade)#1: Ratio Problem
Hello friends. Solving math problems the easier way is intended to help students discover that learning math is easy. Be inspired and motivated with the hope it can sway them from having neutral opinions about math to liking it.
Here is a problem involving "Ratio". It is assumed that the reader has already good knowledge on the topic.
Just a friendly reminder when solving a word problem. Even if the problem seems simple, read it very carefully. Don't just skim the problem and attempt to solve it right away. Take your time and don’t move on until you feel confident that you know what the problem is asking you to do.
Ratio - A brief review
Ratio is another word for a fraction, so in algebra, fractions are often called rational numbers. It is also the comparison of two numbers or quantities by division. The ratio of a to b can be written in any of the following manners:
How to solve problem involving ratios?
The key to solving ratio problems is to use the given ratio to help represent the unknown numbers. Ratios are usually represented by fractions in reduced form. So to represent the ratio in its original form, multiply each term of the ratio by a common factor (x) that was canceled out of the original fraction.
Application:
Problem:
A stick 56 cm long is divided in the ratio 3 : 4. Find the length of each segment.
Solution:
Let x = common factor of 3 and 4
The length of the stick is 56 cm so let's get their sum
Conclusion:
Therefore the sticks are 24 cm and 32 cm long.Note:
Although math problems may be solved in different ways, there is a general method of visualizing, approaching and solving it. Constant practice can help you improve your math skills and be able to discover math problem-solving strategies that may help you solve even the most difficult one.

Excellent explanation, it is good to read articles where the explanation is given and it is understood, if you are a teacher it must be good. I was glad when my students solved the problems without any objection.
wow thanks for dropping by @deisip67
... lol! we share the same feelings... but as always there are really students who are very critical ... so better be prepared all the time😅
Also, when in doubt reread the question as many times as you need to until you understand the problem.
opps! my teacher is here...wow thanks for visiting my post... feeling so great!😊
@mathowl I want to catch them all
