RE: An Introduction to Mathematical Proofs, Part 1: Basic Logic And Truth Tables

in #mathematics8 years ago (edited)

Was inspired to write this after seeing the @complexring blog on an introduction to group theory: https://steemit.com/mathematics/@complexring/cryptography-101-an-interactive-class-an-introduction-to-group-theory--week-1

Abstract Algebra and Cryptography were two of my favorite upper level math classes in undergrad, but I truly believe that Fundamentals of Abstract Mathematics was far more important to the general populace and is must learn material for anyone wishing to think more logically. Mathematics is like learning a new language, you have to build up your vocabulary before you can start making sentences. This is the first building block towards learning those fun, higher level mathematics classes.

Thanks for your post. I have one in the works that will be an introduction to proofs and logic tables. Although, you beat me to it. I will definitely link to your post (and encourage others to give you some votes, especially considering you beat me to this topic!).

I was going to jump directly into proof techniques before realizing the background logic knowledge was necessary before doing the fun stuff. But look forward to your series as well
