Probability! How to Calculate It?

The Concept of Probability

Probability is the likelihood (chance) that a specific event or set of events will occur. Probability is the ratio of the desired event(s) to the total number of events (also known as the sample space). Probability can be expressed as a ratio, fraction, percentage and decimal.

An event or an outcome is any of the possible results of an activity or experiment. For example; if a coin is tossed there are two possible outcomes, either it will land on heads up or tails up.

Consider the coin lands on heads up which is the outcome or event. The sample space in this case is HEADS, TAILS (which is also known as total number of outcomes from an experiment).

Probability is the math topic in grade 7 of most curricula around the world. But I learned about it in Grade 12 math. What about you? When did you learn about the concept of Probability? Do you like to share this information with your kids, grandkids or friends' kids?

OMG MY MOSTEST FAVORITEIST POST EVER!! I love Probability and odds. Thats why i make sports formulas and play poker.

I am starting a series of posts on this topic. Hopefully you will enjoy all of them.

OHH YEA, ill resteem the heck out of them too

Oh it's probability!!! One of the most interesting Math topics. I just updated my previous math challenge with solution, which is a probability question as well, please take a look and comment if you think my explanation is not good enough! :)

Thanks for your feedback dear @kenchung. Your explanations of the probability of slapping the executive are perfect!!

And here is something valuable in everyday life. Resteemed, my dear @mathworksheets. 😊

Thanks a lot my friend @photo-trail. I really appreciate your continuous support.

Anything you write impresses me that you do cant help liking you even if I dont always understand lol

Thanks for your kind remarks @bigbear. I really really appreciate your support.

It's great to see all of this cool math stuff! Useful and fun!

Thanks a lot my big brother :))

Statistics / Probability was my favorite topic in university. I think over here they only started teaching the concept of probability in 12th grade but they went really in-depth fast.

Thanks for stopping by @numpypython. Very interesting branch of mathematics. Now a days I see the basic concepts in grade 8 math books. it's better, when in grade 11 or 12 students are well prepared to do in-depth study of the concept.

stock markets are the biggest probability running machines...

You are right dear Jimmy. We have to have odds in our favour!

I start learning probability because I am interested in betting in horse racing XD.

This way you know the odds, right?

Probability is usually introduced in geometry but sometimes it is introduced in algebra 2 (intermediate algebra).

Also big a part of statistics.
