The ekpo masquerade

Ekpo Masquerades is a cultural society plays that was originates from the Efik, Ibibio and Annang People in the Cross River/Akwa Ibom land the South South Nigeria.The Ekpo same in meaning as Ekpe, Okpo-owo or Akpo-owo as pronounced by the Efik, Ibibio and Annang people simply describe it as a non-living humans or a death soul that comes the land of the living.
This masquerade doesn't collect money with his hand because it carries it to the land of the dead neither does it talk women...

In Akwa Ibom Ekpo Masquerades is practice by almost all its towns especially during its Festivals at Ikot Ekpene,Etim Ekpo, Oruk Anam and Abak as well as the Annang land and some other places in the Ibibio land.
They usually scare off school children and are usually harmful
They aren't as beautiful as the ekpe masquerade and are spirits in masquerade form said to have come back to commune with the living
