Mars Dunes, out of this world...
Another of my favorites are dunes, whether they are coastal dunes, desert dunes, fossil dunes or even the dunes on Mars.
I just find dunes fascinating and love watching them creep as the wind blows.
These dunes on mars are a little different from dunes on earth however and remain a bit of a mystery.
If you zoom into the picture you see that they have banded appearance.
This is extremely unusual for this type of dune and the jury is still out on the processes that create this kind of banding.
The darker bands are thought to be smaller dust particles and the lighter bands formed by larger sand grains

Always a pleasure...
Near Mars Poles there are straight parallel dunes, not crescent as in our deserts. Strong winds.
...and prevailing in a certain orientation.
