Incoming Marrakech
The Marrakech express train from Tangiers owes its legend to a Crosby Stills & Nash song. I never fail to take it. Its 10 hour trail through the country gives me just the right time to adjust to a culture that slowly scented my Persian inheritance. This feeling of Nomadic Displacement is central to the site specific installation I am to put together in the heart of the Marrakech Medina, just across the street from the Medarsa, the Marrakech Musée.
The streets are burning under the desert sun as I set to prep the show with help of the Laftimi Brothers that in between LA and Marrakech ventures own the very befitting Nomad restaurant. Thanks to them my temporary studio was improvised this afternoon at Tahar Zbiri's soon to open artist residency program just off place des épices.
Looking good
