Money occupies a vital position in the family and it is considered one of the strongest factors of a radiant marriage. Yet it is not a real source of happiness as it has put many marriages asunder. Money has no intrinsic value- it's value is in the number of goods and services it can buy to meet man's needs. Therefore while it may be necessary for survival,it must not take first place in our heart. It must be seen as just a means to an end.
We live in an age of persuasive advertising and skillful salesmanship all designed to entice us to spend but nothing puts more pressure on marriage than financial irresponsibility, lack of money and debt. So it is important to know how to spend wisely and honestly disburse the family income to prevent extravagant spending that may plunge the entire family into financial crisis.
The desire to have money at all cost dominates the thinking of many people today. Many consider material possession and moneymaking as the ultimate in life. The ambition to accumulate wealth keeps men and women outside the home and consequently robs the family of the love, time and care they need. This causes disaffection among members of the family.
Worst of all is when money is misappropriated and positioned in the place of master instead of servant. Money when wrongly perceived, rocks the boat of the family and drains it of every cream of joy and peace. It turns a palace to dunghill!
