When Coming Second is a Complete Loose

in #marketing7 years ago

Expectations were so high. On the short list for the job of my dreams. Great job, good money and a fantastic team to work with.
Interviews were done. Presentation was presented and everyone was smiling. I was brilliant if I do say so myself. Just down to the two of us. We two, head and shoulders above the rest evidently. Then the waiting…
Then the phone call. Sorry but you came second. Second in game that could only have one winner is no consultation at all. You lose. The other guy got it. Beyond sad.
Behind every cloud…
Great practice for the next job application.
Came second so not a complete loser, certainly better than the rest.
Knowledge that you can present yourself well, that the clothes you wore were appropriate.
That I wasn’t too old to be considered, that was a biggie.
Owning your own businesses for so many years, worked against me. This was always going to be the case. Why would you work for someone else when you know how to run a business? Won’t you just start another business again and then you will leave?
So now what? Find another ‘job of your dreams’ to apply for. Just keep going sending out the resumes. Then worry and stress each time you get on the short list.
Number two… always the booby prize in a game that only has one winner. Back to the drawing boardwoman with tablet on bed.jpg
