Where's the Beef
Where's the Beef?!?
Well the beef is usually in the freezer, but it is rather empty looking. I blame that mainly on Ben, but in reality I suppose I have put a bit of a dent in it as well.
So, we get out beef from a local farmer I have known for 25 years or so. When I first built my house, I got my tractor fairly beached. Ol Butch was quick to come over and pull mine out with his. Good neighbors and solid folk like that are hard to come by today.
It is really nice to know who raises your beef. It is then taken up to a local butcher. They have a rather eclectic store I would like to share for my Market Friday post. As always I want to thank the ever enchanting @dswigle for being such a gracious host of Market Friday each week.
Upon entering the store, this is clearly displayed in case of any dissatisfaction!
Oh wait a minute! What have we here??
Ah Mackinaw Island fudge...In other words, the good stuff!
Hmmm, the devil on my shoulder is saying, "maybe I should get the stuff with the nuts, so I can have it all to myself!!!!"
Temptation Abounds
While these malt balls may not be the cheapest malt balls, I bet they are close to the best. Well worth the $4.99 / pound!!
Of course the decor is not my cup of tea, it is what it is.
I think this is the bear that has been keeping cryptos down! He is yours for 4 grand I believe it was.
Yet there are plenty of yummies to feast your eyes on.
You can even open a bottle of whoop ass!!
Well I could go on and on while neat stuff from this place, but I guess I should wind this down with a question... Bacon vodka? Yea or nay?!?
Thanks for stopping by!
All words and images are mine and can be also found on my various social media sites. Now I must add that some of the shots I steal from my son Ben @silver314 , but I feed him so he can sue me lol.

Nay on the bacon vodka. Looks like a cool store though.

Yeah I am with you on that lol!
Oh, you make it so tempting!! Bacon Vodka! Who could resist?
This was actually a great post and I am glad that you gave us the tour of your butcher/Butch. I like the backstory on how you met him, but, I like it even better that you are supporting your local economy. This is the way life used to be, before we got spoiled.
If we buy local and support the little farmer, they could stay in business and make money and spend it right there in the community and on and on. Right?
Hehe... A man with a sense of humor. The sign with the complaint department. LOL
Those malt balls were pretty amazing looking and when I was a kid, I used to love them. Okay, I still love them but rarely indulge. Not because I am watching my weight, although that is a consideration, but more because they don't make them like they used to. (unless they are homemade, like those!) The chocolate tastes like plastic.
Hey, bring some of that whoop ass over here! I'm feeling pretty feisty!
Hey @old-man-photos! How about bringing that post over to my place and dropping the link! OMG... Talk about a renegade!

I can't believe I forgot the link. Maybe I like the scolding lol!
Oh these do not in any way taste like anything short of heaven! I was good though. Sweets are not the temptation, my drug of choice is carbs it seems.
You are always a feisty lady! I like it ;)
I flag trash. You have been upvoted by trash. I have negated the vote from said trash.
That's a pretty rad store @old-guy-photos! That fudge though....i bet it's sooo good!
No thanks! To 'bacon vodka' gross-me-out😬
What is it about the taxidermy animals that you are not fond of?
Good luck in the contest! You've a great post here!
Oh I am not saying I am against taxidermy. Like I am not one to try to ban anything. It is just like different strokes for different folks. Do you really like it??
Ahhh! I see. Like, you just prefer the beach & trees to stuffed animals. That makes sense. If i imagine that the animals were not killed just to be stuffed and put on display that their life ended naturally and the body was beautifully preserved thereafter then, i generally do find these pieces genuinely appealing. I recall my first interaction with a bear skin rug. It's a most wonderous experience! But, to think an animal may have been sacrificed as solely a trophy turns my stomach big time. 😬
Well every wall is covered with them. I am sure all the deer were taken for meat. I am not a hunter, but I have friends that are.
I have to say, I never thought you would have been keen on taxidermy animals LOL!! That is pretty cool. It goes to show you cannot judge a book by its cover!!
I'll have some bacon vodka and soda with a shot of whoop ass ... something I never thought I'd think. I like that you get your meat local. (This comment taken out of context and I am in so much trouble)
Well yes indeed, and drop a malt ball or two in for good measure LOL.
Oh yes I suppose it is no better to say: we feel that local meat has a better taste and may even be safer as far as being free from disease than the other meat that is available LOL! :D
Some people will eat meat and never think twice where that meat came from !
OMG I blame it on being at least half asleep lol. I should not be sleep posting lol.
Canadians would love it.
Yes! You are right about that LOL!!
Thanks for checking it out!
Bacon vodka does not sound good, but if you have an open bottle, I'll try it.
I did not spend my money on any lol.
You make the simplest things interesting. I'm with you on the malt balls I bet they are really good and if not the best then possibly the biggest.
Well that is so kind. I really dont do a whole lot of exciting things, so it mat just be a necessity to make simple things interesting lol. I do appreciate that because that is how I try to be in real life. May as well enjoy what we can!
I agree it's as simple as that. You don't have to go far to have a good laugh.
Bacon vodka, eh? My vote would be in a downward direction, but then I'm more of a beer or Irish Cream and sweet liquor man anyway, so maybe a bad one to ask. And a weenie for whoop ass hotstuff too. Oh well, I guess much like Popeye, I is what I is.
That looks like my kind of place. Lots of stuff to look at, and FUDGE. Always liked that stuff. And from Mackinac...that would be GOOO-OOOOD. Think I told you we used to mess about up there years back. Did you end up with the 'OGP Only' nutty one?
Thanks for sharing a cool corner of your world up yonder. As folks say down below in comments, I see many sides to the stuffed stuff stuff. Though I abhor plain trophy hunting. If you're going to shoot it, you should eat it. Cool you get your beef from local. Is some of it buffalo? Or just cowallo? Cheers my friend.
Love the bottle text
adventures are best shared so is the bottle you are sharing
Nice !
Lots of interesting products here @old-guy-photos I don't know why the cost of fudge has to be son exorbitant. I used to make it occasionally for my kids and from what I recall, I didn't add chunks of gold in it so, what's the deal????
It works in my favour though, because it is easy to bypass due to the high cost. Sweet treats don't usually tempt me but if I was confronted with Baileys flavoured fudge, then I may just weaken. 😊 Do you guys have Baileys in your part of the world? It is an Irish whiskey and cream based liqueur and is called is called Baileys Irish Cream. Quite irresistible in my opinion. 😄
