Let's Go Antiquing
Let's Go Antiquing!!!
Well to be honest, these items are mainly vintage not actually antique. I understand that antiques are typically at least 100 years old. While I find things from my childhood most interesting, and I am admittedly an Old Guy, even I am not THAT old lol!!!
Well I figure a few of you are old enough to recognize a few of theses items. Dont worry I am not asking for a show of hands lol.
***I always make it a point to thank the beautiful ray of Steemit Sunshine, @dswigle for doing the best job supporting her Market Friday tag. No one works it harder, and puts more into tips than she does. So thank you Denise, you are truly a Steemit rock star in my book!
Now maybe she wont flag me. I mean I have to say I never knew that vintage collecting meant this! I may have to take up that hobby LOL :D
I love to go through these types of places and see things from my childhood. For example I had a couple of these train cars.
They even have vintage Christmas ornaments! I had so many that I inhereted and foolishly put on the curb before I knew better! That still makes me feel bad!
The had some old cameras for the photography buffs.
Old furniture like this ice chest for $495.
Remember these from school!!!
My daughter spied this little table. Of course we could not go home empty handed. I mean why leave money in the bank right !?!
Wants to distress and shabby chic it. Much like this rocker she did. I am a dinosaur coz from my day you wanted newer. We never made things look older lol. I also remember thinking bottled water was the stupidest idea ever! Who would pay for something free. I really am a dying breed omg.
You dont need a Ouija board to tell you what happened.
The Old Guy ended up with this...
And $70 bucks less in the bank!!!
I am adding cool new items to my favorites on my Amazon store everyday

Thanks for taking us along on your #MarketFriday chic shopping trip. I love perusing at these antique shops, even second-hand stores, they always seem to have the coolest stuff, don't they?
Does it mean I am a dinosaur if I recognize some of this stuff? Haha! How kind of you to not need a show of hands.
I used to love the shabby chic, quite a while ago, but, you know how females are. We evolve into different styles as life changes. :) But, I can remember my father's horror when I transformed one of his passed on pieces became Oh-So-Chic!! Oh, well. I am not sure he ever understood the decorating thing.
I tried to unsee that part where you said you took those ornaments to the curb! Seriously dude!!!!! We may never be able to speak again. You know how I love my ornaments! You just threw good money to the wind. Plus, they are beautiful! You know I search my families attics for their throwaways.
Thanks for taking us on such a cool #MarketFriday adventure!
#MarketFriday loves you!

Not only that, if I remember correctly, he also curbed a vintage aluminum tree. OMG !!!!
Unforgivable !!
YES!!!!
There is no justice for that one! Right??? What if someone put him to the curb because they didn't want to look at him anymore?!
Huh? Huh?

I know I beat myself up over it all the time. I was making money and just too busy at the time to fool with it... I was a bit younger and a lot more naive. Even threw out his vintage aluminum tree with the color wheel :(
I am pretty sure I have parted ways with things that were valuable without a second thought. It happens. Different times in our lives and those things didn't appeal to me then or I had no idea that something in that bad of shape would be a sought after item in years to come.
I have to be honest with myself. If I didn't like it then, I probably really didn't like it, only the value-added made it more appealing? I have to believe that I would have been more sentimental back when they passed than now. Or at least more emotional about the items.
I'm not sure, but, with enough money and time, those memories could be bought, once again. ;)
And I have to think they weren't in as good a shape as you remember, otherwise, would you really have put it out on the curb??
Me and hubby have been there, we are now selling what we bought, so much stuff :)
Oh my, look at all those collections!! I sure like thise old cameras!
Nice shopping trip! I’m an old gal so I recognized some of the items. Thanks for taking us along.

I always like going into shops selling old things, or used things. It's much more friendly for the environment and a lot of these things look nice and are still even useful, even the 'dirty magazines'.
I'll go antiquing or vintaging any day just say when 😍 I drive my family scatty with these things.. 😂

It is pretty cool. I am sure you have good taste and can make it all look proper good. I guess shabby chic is a "thing" here. Well that is good coz I have a houseful of old crap stuff so now I am en vogue lol.
Haha I'm just as in vogue. Only problem is all my pretty antique and vintage stuff is in storage while we live in Mauritius. I do miss it. And I'm careful not to buy stuff here because I can't cope with another round of leaving stuff behind.

@old-guy-photos you are a hoarder 🤪why that chair?
I am starting to think I am a hoarder LOL! I have been trying to get rid of a few things!
Yeah the chair is not my idea, neither is the table. The chair is going to have a pot of flowers in it lol.

I love those cameras! I always have a hard time passing them by when I find them too. I need to make a point to not look for them, because I definitely don't need any more.
I like flea markets and antique stores, but I wouldn’t buy old furniture, it’s not my thing. I would buy stuff that I could up-cycle and re-purpose. 😊
