Native Filipino Delicacies for #MarketFriday
Just like that, it's Friday already, and time for our #MarketFriday by our most kind-hearted host @dswigle. If you have not followed her yet, well, you should. She is one of the most generous person I have met here on Steem!
So, here's my contribution for this week.
Who wants to meet a frog prince?
Maybe a leader of a band?
Or perhaps a pool master?
How about a folk dancer?
Or maybe, you're attracted with someone who drinks? Cool 'eh?!
Hahaha! 😜
I really had a fun time watching this amazing work of art, I didn't know exist, until I saw this!
This is called Taxidermy Art-Work. Taxidermy is defined as "the art of preparing, stuffing, and mounting the skins of animals with lifelike effect."
Source
I don't know what to think. I don't think I can do it this kind of job. Maybe these caught my attention because of the story behind this work of art. It's interesting how frogs are depicted as humans. What a brilliant idea of the taxidermist by the name of Manuel P. Kalingag.
I was at this place to actually buy a gift to friends from afar, through a friend who came to visit us.
This place is called Product 8, where they sell products from Region 8 (our region) alone. So all the native delicacies are here.
I bought these. These are crackers made from blue crab and pacific green seashells respectively. Have you had some of these? If you do, then it is from our place! If you haven't, sorry I do not know how to send it to you. But I assure you, it's tasty!
Then they have this. This a very famous delicacy we have. We call it "moron." I know what you're thinking, but please let me tell you, it has nothing to do with the English word and is also pronounced differently! Moron is made up of ground glutinous rice, coconut milk and sugar. What makes it special is our native chocolate tablea (tablets). Thus, with chocolate as its distinct ingredient, it is also called chocolate moron.
Another sweet delicacy we have that can be found here at Product 8 is binagol. Binagol literally means "to place in a coconut shell." It is made from mashed giant taro corms, condensed milk, sugar, coconut milk, and egg yolks, that is contained in a polished coconut shell, locally called bagol, thus explains its name.
They also have other goodies like turmeric, tablea, and many more that I didn't take picture of.
Then I went to the other room where I saw the taxidermy. This adjacent room holds the non-food item they seĺl.
Weaved mats, bags, hats of different kinds, clocks and wall decors decorated with sea shells are found here.
And I saw a sungkaan. Sungka is a traditional Filipino game played on this solid wooden block with two rows of seven circular holes and two large holes at both ends called "head." If you want to know how this is played, you may find the rules here.
I have talked a lot, I know. Hahaha. And, just like that, my #MarketFriday is done.
Thank you for reading,
Ging

Very lovely post, thank you for featuring our native goods and Philippine products. We really should support local products & businesses more.
Thank you. I support Filipino products at heart, so I often frequent this place. 😊
Thank you @rainbowme for dropping by and and for leaving kind words. ❤
I have been having difficultly trying to make sure that #MarektFriday is acknowledged fully, to make sure everyone knows just how much they are appreciated! I cannot thank you enough for all of your support and #Steemitlove, in the good times and the not so good.
Yes! I want the frog prince!
This was such a cool post and I have been so wound up in the events of steemit this week, I never got to finish the comments! I hope that you are not offended and while I did read all of them, I always like to comment fully on them, which didn't happen to about 1/3 of them.
#MarketFriday is so appreciative of all the people that support it and know that we wouldn't be having one without people like yourself. Steemit means a lot to me and I just want to see it get back to where it once was, or at least someplace that feels better than this.
I hope that we all can just continue with our life here and throw some fairy dust on this place. I know we can make magic again!! Thank you again! xoxo
Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it?

Oh no! I am never offended at all. I never was, and I'll never will!!! 😁😊 That's an assurance.
I know you just came from a needed vacation. Plus it has been a rollercoaster ride these days, and I absolutely understand why things are a little chaotic. So you need not even have to explain yourself, my Denise. 😍
I am hopeful that things will be better as well. I was sad for the thought that the platform that I have grown to love will disappear like a mist. Hopefully it won't happen. And until then, I will hold on to this hope. 😊😊
Hope all is well at your end. 😉 Have a beautifil evening @dswigle.
The vacation was awesome and it was more what was going on in the platform and working the SteemUSA site at discord and keeping up with the meetings and what was going on there...
Plus being over at several other Discords.
So much to do and I didn't worry about posting. I just didn't post. So tonight. Well, I played catch up@
Thank you for understanding and I hope all will be well with us here!
God bless.
