Market Friday Goes to the Underworld in a Videogame

Was feeling very nostalgia this week so I stop by a very old game I use to be very active in. Had a little fun and caught up with some very old friends. Some of them I’ve not talk with in over 5 years or longer.

While there I visited Firewall Ridge in Hell on planet Rocktropia. Was blessed finding some player run shops still open: mining, armor, and weapon shops! Sadly the one I wanted to visit must have gone out of business.

phonebooth2.png

To get there naturally I would take a phone booth what other way would you expect!

First Shop: Miner’s Den

minersden.png

I’ve mined on several planets in my day. It’s great I found a shop with a couple of items of the trade down here.

terramaster.png

While personally, I have never used this particular brand of Finder for ores or enmatter I have been told they make quite the item to have in certain situations when needing to reach deep mining depths.
miningamps.png

A very active miner could go through this entire supply of amps on this table in a couple of days. I’ve personally only used them for a short while. They are attached to the Finder and increase the cost per action. My luck always seem to run out when I had one of these attached!

On the back of the table are some depth increases I’ve never had a use for them. My personal finder never needed the increase from them for what I was mining.

Finally rounding out for this shop is an extractor to get ore or enmatter out from a claim. This one is a rather basic and cheap model at that. This is one area is where being high end does not matter much unless you are in a major hurry to get your claim or looking to be extremely efficient in usage cost.

Second Shop: Mikaile’s Fire and Brimstone

fireandbrimstone.png

This particular armor shop is selling very specialized gear that offers protection for fighting creates in Hell.

greenset.png

I had a friend who used to craft this Firewall sets. I would trade him my ores at discount and he makes me a nice set at a discount. Nice way to save on auction house or shop fees! I had a thing for green armor, hair, and clothing back then. Sadly I sold mine when I stop playing they do look amazing!

firewallblue.png

As you can see these things are not cheap with high markup 151%. They are not cheap to produce, can’t be repaired and this particular one only females can wear!

redfirewall.png

Finally rounding off this shop is red set. These are higher in price and offer much higher protection as well.

Third Shop: No Name Posted on a Sign

shopkeeper.png

This last one sells mostly weapons with a few other items. The shopkeeper was not dressed to the kind of post I’m making. She gets to be coved up a little more!

landvehicle.png

The shopkeeper has some land vehicles for sale. I prefer spaceships myself but these are always fun and a great tool for relocating dense area of mobs out of your way. Hence why I don’t have one anymore to spawn and show you of these. It might have caught fire a few times…

weapontable.png

The table you have been waiting to see-- weapons! I do believe most of these are all entry-level/ lower end. We do love our guns in this game!

axe.png

The lore on this axe is rather cool. I have had some drop while out hunting Motorhead creatures out by Lemmy’s Castle.

ballroom.png

While out making sure I did not miss any other shops in the area I came across this wonderful looking room. You would almost expect to run into devil here.

gateout.png

Now you must be thinking by now if you arrived by phone booth how are you getting out here? I arrived safely back on the surface after using this Helliporter.

Totally awesome you did market friday this way haha.. love it.. upvoted resteemed.. here is a tip!

Thanks, thought i would try something a bit different from most this week :)

Market Friday has gone wild this week, lol.. This is very interesting and unique..The red color really draws me in :-)

It would not be the place it is without it and brimstone! I know when I talk past it was going make a nice cover image.

Man, I've never played or heard of Rocktropia to my knowledge, but this definitely seems like a game I would have been interested in. I've always really enjoyed watching and playing in-game economies.

You have to play very smart or be very lucky. Real cash economy games can be rather dangers to one’s own wallet!

I use to make a little bit of a living of it. Before I mostly cashed out I was an arms dealer, and help run a couple of business inside the game as well shop assistance/pilot for passenger transport between planets.

It's a shame they failed to start a real bank to back up the digital assets. They alsonever took advantage of cryptocurrencies which is a bit of a shame would saved the game I think. They where around long before there was even a bitcoin.

I just wish I could find a game with a mining system like this one has that I could enjoy. I love just dropping probes to search for ores and if I get a hit I get go mine it up and move on. I then sell off ores to someone who enjoys crafting at a markup or trade for crafted items.

That's probably why I never played / heard of the game because I don't like spending money. I forget what the name of the space MMO is called, but it has mining. Just don't have the time anymore to commit to games like this to make them worthwhile, which is why I stick to mining "Steem" for now.

This is part of Entropia Universe maybe that's the one you are thinking of.

I have played games like Eve Online and Space Engineers. Both fun in short term. To much time commuting in the long run it makes it boning.

Yeah Eve online is what I was thinking of.

I'd never heard of this game! Seems like it was a bit ahead of its time. Something like this would absolutely flourish today if it were integrated with a real-world cryptocurrency economy!

Lots of those early games got really put off of real-world economies because of the fear of the government getting involved. Runescape is an example of a game which was ruined because the creators really cracked down on "real-world trading."

I think a lot of them should come back and give it a second go, now that we have crypto.

indeed, D3 was disappoint with how they had money auctions and then they just killed any kind of real money trading.

They can either get a % cut on a sale or players will just find another way lol.

There a couple of games looking to use cryptocurrency. I've not check in or done much looking myself.

The whole nonsense with loot boxes in games and governments looking into it as "gambling" might stop developers from wanting to allow certain types of game structures in the future.

One of the most important things about cryptocurrency is that it completes the loop of statelessness. Before, if you wanted to run a business, you at least had to have a bank account somewhere, which meant you needed a street address, a photo ID, a government ID number....

Now, someone could start a decentralised autonomous game company and pay for hosting in cryptocurrency, in a country with favourable laws.

Then, anyone with an internet connection could play that game, and nobody could track down the creators to charge them with anything, because they are everywhere, and nowhere, at the same time. They might even live in the country where it's illegal (though that would be unwise and dangerous).

A guy after my own heart. I took #treetuesday into Minecraft so it was #marketfriday's turn to go gaming. :D

Indeed it is always fun to shake things up a bit! They where not expecting this kind of thing I bet hehe.
