Oh, a marketing ploy for sure, but, it is one with a positive twist in my eyes. It is not the big all-out holiday that December brings, but, it has brought out a certain behavior in people around here. Generally a more favorable look upon life. A little more peace and goodwill towards the neighbor.

It's nice to see the small parts of the holiday come out and leave the big commercial buying frenzy to December. Although, I find that a little repugnant as well. Spoiling a perfectly good holiday teaching our children all about greed.

Perhaps one day, it will become bigger there in South Africa. It is not huge here, but, it is gaining. :)
