My Back Yard Market.

in #marketfriday6 years ago (edited)

As a vegan, you could say that I take my fresh produce very seriously. And, you can get no fresher produce than a backyard garden. So, for #marketfriday initiated by the marvelous @dswigle, I'd like to share a bit of produce from my backyard market.

For my afternoon snack, I had a taste for fresh fruit. Luckily, the rain that has been a constant fixture for the past couple of days let up long enough for me to see what treats were hiding in my backyard garden.

What's that hiding among the leaves?

I spy a cantaloupe! And, it looks ripe.

It's ripe, ready and smells soooooo good!

You never know what you're going to get ...until you cut it open. Perfect firm texture.

Pull out the seeds and get ready to eat.

Finally, a perfect afternoon treat! Fresh, delicious cantaloupe! Straight from my backyard garden market!

Oh, how lucky are you! My garden has been too saturated with rain to pick anything! But, that melon sure did look amazing! The texture looked perfect! Nothing better than home grown!

I usually save one veggie (or even flowers) and let them go to seed. I have found the seeds germinate better or maybe that is a figment of my imagination.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful garden with us and your healthy lifestyle. Much appreciated having you take the time and energy to make a post for #MarketFriday!

Please leave the link to your post in my #MarketFriday comment section so it can easily be found by others. They will all be in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you! ❤

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

That is so weird!! I left a comment (you can see I left an upvote at the same time!) and the entire thing is no longer here! This is also not the first for yesterday, but annoying nonetheless.

I was impressed with that melon of yours, it really was just perfect, despite all the rain. Ok, to be fair, we have had a lot of rain in the Washington, DC area!

It made a most delightful shot, especially with the firm, ripe flesh and the close up look at it all. I have melon envy. I usually leave one fruit/plant to go to seed for next years seeds and then dry them out, keeping them in a cool, dry place over the winter. I thought it gave me a better chance at seed germination.

Is this the wrong way I have been doing it???

As always, we are delighted to see you at #MarketFriday and appreciate the effort put forth getting a post together.

Edit: and now, both the comments are showing up! Oh, Steemit!!!

LOL! I'm honored that you would take the time to leave even one message, much less two. Stay dry up in DC. It's been really rainy down in NC too!
Enjoy your weekend, @dswigle!

cantaloupe is my favorite fruit of all times. It's included in my diet to reduce my excess weight.
Thanks a lot @atmemestable for posting an informative article.

Thanks, @solarangel, for taking the time to read my article. I absolutely love all the fresh fruit available during spring and summer. My watermelons didn't fare very well so I ended up purchasing the at my neighborhood farmer's market. Fresh fruit and veggies are great for weight loss and for health.
