The kampala Sunday miracle

in #market6 years ago

Moving on a Sunday in Kampala Sunday is one of the most amazing thing ever. You get to discover lot of things starting from cheap to somehow moderate prices. The point is that most sellers choose the street than shops. This day is always allowed by the government and the sellers do have their right to block roads and sell the items in the middle of the city. In otherwords, some streets are blocked as the sellers make the whole street into a market.

When the items are on street, eventually the price tend to be low than other items since the competition is high and customers are somehow few but do attend for that particular purpose to buy cheap items as clothes, shoes, bags, books and other items. Sellers engage in real competition, sing songs, scream and do all possible ways to attract the customer. This is so amazing to see and even the customer does enjoy to see that happening. The prices are somehow fixed and the customers choose the most attractive seller. One seller can engage a person who will be just singing about the product and the song can be as this…’’Trousers for them…ehhh…trousers for them….get a 10.000 uganda shillings…ehhh…just a 10.000uganda shillings…..come and grab them….ehhh…grab them at once’’. The song can be nice and eventually fall into buying them.

Apart from that, a Sunday is always regarded as a day of which the city is calm, no traffic jam and at least people get some time to attend church and at least enjoy some time with the family. Some young people enjoy visiting their friends and telling them about Saturday plot. Some seems amazing as everyone explains how he/she spent his holyday. Some Church boys as I am choose to keep quiet and just hear the jazz. The church boys just look at different sides, somehow shy and then after escape before being asked thousands questions. Sunday looks tricky for those boys and prefer remaining in church with other church boys so as to not find the other group.

Well, Sunday is the day when thieves sleep

I do not have enough evidence in that but its said that few cases of theft happen on Sundays. This may be because few people actually work on Sunday, the city is quiet and mostly everyone is in family. So, we say that thieves are sleeping but will come to compensate that day on Monday, since Monday has a good number of people as the day is overwhelmed by different category of people, Items as its considered as a reporting day for many students, workers and all other groups. The worse thing is to board a taxi or using a phone openly while moving or driving. They actually teach people life and everyone becomes careful as never before.

No more traffic jam on Sundays

In case you have a quick program and wish to meet some people in different places, then try meeting them on Sundays. Well, most people attend service but still they do have some time to meet their personal tasks. If the person has no problem with Sunday programs, then this could be a good idea since a 2 hour travel could be reduced to a 20 minute travel, just imagine 1hour and 40 minutes saved compared to other days. Actually a 27 kilometre from Kampala town distance which takes approximately 3 hours is reduced to just almost 35 minutes. Again 2 hours plus gained. Most people haven’t yet discovered it and it do take this opportunity to meet some people or buy items located in different places.

There is no traffic jam also on Sunday and it is really good to make an appointment

Yeah....I actually learnt it on sunday as i was doing some shopping in town

I love the market time. Sunday shopping after worship at church, the roads also so clear!

Yeah...I actually realised that street items are the best sometimes, more often on sunday afternoon and evening

Sundays good for shopping and good for driving. Would advise those learning how to drive to storm the streets of Kampala on a Sunday and enjoy the drive with no stress of traffic. Nice Post!
