Lesson #5 - Steemit Links and Email Addresses - Check out my Markdown Course!
Learning Markdown helps you make your great content look great!
I created an online course called Steem Markdown, which teaches you how to use Markdowns to format your Steemit posts.
In this post, I am including information from Lesson #4 - Links and Emails.

Getting Started
Images are an important part of your Steemit post. When properly used, images compliment your writing and draw your audience deeper into your posts.
Important things to remember:
There is a standardized Markdown syntax used to call inline images:
- ![Descriptive Text](complete URL including https:// or http://)
There is an optional variable that can be included with inline images: - ![Descriptive Text](complete URL including https:// or http:// "Optional Title")
- Traditionally, when an optional title is included, this text will be displayed when a mouse arrow hovers over the image.
- However, Steemit does not support this functionality at this time.
The Comparison - What You Type versus What You See
On Steemit - Inline Image with NO optional title

On Steemit - Inline Image with optional title

sumantranate's Second Glance - Anomolies
I have seen Steemit call images from URLs that were not properly formatted (based on the standardized formatting mentioned above).
I have not been able to determine why some URLs call images and others do not.
I cannot recommend only using a URL to call an image, because the results will inconsistent.
Practice Makes Perfect
Now it's your turn to practice what you have learned.
- Open Steemit.com and click Submit a Story.
- Copy the following text and paste it into the Steemit Markdown editor. Confirm my statement about the optional title not appearing in Steemit.
