“On Black Friday, dispensaries can expect to move more products – and see many more customers than on a typical day,” said Joel Milton, CEO of Baker, an online e-commerce platform for marijuana dispensaries. “In 2014-15, we saw that customers lined up around the block at 8 a.m. for the sales. In 2016, the lines are still going to be common. In fact, many of our clients have been actively telling customers to shop online through Baker during the busy season.”
Milton said that just like Target, he hires additional seasonal workers for Black Friday. “We are expecting a much more significant bump than the 2x spike in orders that we saw last year, and we are bringing on an additional support specialist to help during this busy season,” Milton said.
The average dispensary order size last year was smaller than normal, but the order volume was two times the average day. “I think customers were stocking up to give cannabis gifts to their loved ones in time for the new year,” said Milton.
