As pictured above you can see how far we have came in the industry of legal marijuana, along with the tolerance by our police departments in states where marijuana is legal. But it wasn't long ago where the story wouldn't of had such a happy ending like we see here.

Cops came-A-knocking
Before Marijuana became legal in Oregon when the cops came-A-knocking you better not be at the grow site or risking time in jail. But a vast majority of Oregonians supported marijuana from 1999 through 2005, the ratio of Oregonians using cannabis outpaced the general United States population by 32–45%. In surveys conducted in 1974 and 1975. Oregon's overwhelming support of cannabis lead to many changes in the states stance on marijuana.
First came Oregon Ballot Measure 67 in 1998
- Measure 67 was passed with 54.6% support. This would allow the cultivation, possession, and use of marijuana by doctor recommendation for patients with certain medical conditions. But at this time we did not have medical dispensaries for patients to access medical marijuana reliably.Then in 2012 Oregon lawmakers approve a medical marijuana dispensary registry system
- This means Oregon dispensaries were able to provide access to medical cannabis for patients through licensed and regulated non-profit dispensaries. This was a big step for Oregonians. Not only could you grow medical marijuana for yourself but you could grow it for OMMP patients that would reimburse you for grow cost.Finally in 2014 Measure 91 was introduced
- Oregon Ballot Measure 91 would legalize the recreational use of marijuana, based on regulation and taxation determined by the OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission). This was Oregon's third attempt to legalize recreational marijuana and fortunately it was passed with 56.11% voter support. Oregon was the third state to legalize recreational marijuana and was then standing strong with Colorado and Washington at the time.
Coming around
Marijuana has impacted Oregon with positive ever lasting effects. As the communities around us start to embrace marijuana not only for medical use but for the potential financial benefits to their local economies we will see the world change before our eyes.
