We start off with Bill Nye buying marijuana at a shop.

Oh, he's so progressive.

Yah Yah.

Unlike most scientists, Nye is always pro marijuana (probably because of the influence of Carl Sagan).

Onstage he talks about the benefits of marijuana and how it can "boost cancer treatments." Umm...cancer treatments are practically toxic. Taking marijuana in combination with chemotherapy and radiation won’t work. My aunt tried it for pancreatic cancer. It didn't work. She passed away.

Why didn't it work? Because the ideologies and methods are too far apart. One is based on Eastern/natural health and holistic thinking. The other is based on Western-European pharmaceutical medicine.

While you have the freewill to combine the two treatments together, it’s fundamentally different processes. Chemotherapy (as if it counts as a "real therapy") and radiation are designed to kill your body. Marijuana and natural/alternative medicine is designed to restart/rejuvenating your body's own healing process. You see how it conflicts?

Of course, I don't begrudge people for taking both. Like me, I'm sure you know of people who have debilitating conditions like autoimmune diseases and/or cancer. Many are desperate and will try anything to relieve the pain or to continue to live. Understandable.

But alternative natural health medicine is based on the ideology that ailments in the body are just the physical manifestation of the real issue. If you don't find out what the real issue is (be it mental, emotional, or spiritual), you won't be able to cure your illness using natural health treatments.

And even if you do cure it without figuring out the reason why you had it in the first place, the issue will eventually manifest itself in another way in your life.

Again, the ideologies couldn’t be further apart. On the one hand, you have Western-European ideologies and physical causes and physical treatments. On the other hand, you have Eastern/natural health ideologies with non-physical causes manifesting as a physical cause to invoke a change in your life for whatever reason. In the former, the reasons "why" you have X is irrelevant. In the latter, figuring out the reasons "why" is the entire purpose of the disease.

Believing in Eastern/natural health ideologies, rationally speaking, you would have to believe that everything in your life has meaning, including all the negative trauma. If the positive events have meaning, the negatives ones have just as much.

In Western-European medical science, there is no meaning to your life or anything on the planet. You're just a sophisticated biological robot/animal alive due to random mutation and blind luck. Nothing more. And you wonder why liberals are drugging themselves with opioids.

Eastern and Western ideologies are very different. While many pretend they can be bridged, they can't. The techniques can be bridged but the ideologies can't (rationally speaking of course).

I know it sounds odd or complicated. But when you start listening to yourself, to your own intuition and body, you'll understand.

And we continue.

Nye talks about all the mysteries about marijuana and how we don't understand how it works, and how they can’t study it because it's illegal in the US at the federal level.

Umm...all you have to do is read the peer-reviewed literature from other countries and you'll be able to understand how the properties of marijuana work. It's not rocket science. The ideology that it has to be studied over the next hundred years and requires $10-100 billion dollars is merely part of the Broken Peer-Reviewed Process (see Philosophy Reborn Part III: Science).

In short, researchers need to keep saying that everything has to be continually studied forever in order to keep their research jobs. It's a conflict of interest. No more studies mean no more jobs/funding. Many researchers are just researching things for the sake of doing research. Nothing of significance is gained. There are researchers in 2018 studying how fresh fruit and vegetables are beneficial.

Oh, but we have to understand how the properties of an apple effects the serotonin levels for people with fibromyalgia.

Sorry, but we don't need those studies. We already know it's beneficial from trial and error.

And what about the safety of marijuana? As an adult, experiment for yourself, try different strains for different reasons (medical vs. recreational). And just so you know, you don’t have to take medical marijuana to cure an illness/disease. You can take it in small amounts to prevent it. Prevention is much better than curing something.

In Canada and the US (not including states that have legalized it) you need a prescription to access medical marijuana (legally that is, online is a different story). But luckily for us, the Canadian government will be legalizing marijuana for recreational and medical without a prescription in October 2018. Of all the things I despise about Prime Minister Trudeau (see the Justin Trudeau series), legalizing marijuana is the one thing he gets right (when it happens).

While Nye's description of the history of marijuana is decent, it leaves out the parts where marijuana was used as an excuse to criminalize visible minorities. Then again, getting into class warfare and brainwashing the public by Global Special Interest Groups is asking a bit too much from Nye (see the Conspiracy 101 Series).

Nye shows the great story of Israel and their marijuana industry. Lovely, but just so you know, recreational marijuana is not legal in Israel. That distinction will hopefully go to Canada in October 2018.

Oddly enough, they show research in Israel where they do a marijuana experiment in regards to dosage but cover the apparatus to prevent the camera from seeing it. The only reason why you wouldn’t want it to be seen is because the technique or the final result (synthetic cannabis) will be patented by Big Pharma corporations (see Philosophy Reborn Part IV: Naturally Unhealthy Big Pharma & Big Media).

And just so you know, if marijuana is legal in your area, you don't need to smoke it or take synthetic cannabis tablets. You just need to buy it as a tincture (similar to an essential oil) and add a few drops under your tongue (sublingual administration) and you're done.

And just in case you're wondering, the answer is no. No, marijuana does not damage your lungs [1]

Nye's associate said that his jeans smelled of marijuana at the airport and was fearful of the sniffer dogs. Generally speaking, if you're white, you won't have a problem with marijuana. If you're a visible minority with marijuana, you're f*cked.

To be fair, when Canada does legalize marijuana across the board in October 2018, Canadians will have to decide whether to lie or tell the truth about their marijuana usage. If the customs guy is a prick and you admit to marijuana use, you could be barred for life from entering the US. That is of course unless President Trump tweaks the laws (which he has no reason to do so).

Kudos to Nye for talking about the burgeoning hemp industry in growing hemp for almost all of your clothing and packaging needs. The environmental movement has more or less been silent on this issue.

And now we go to Nye's panel (Dr. Ziva Copper, Kevin Smith, and Rick Garza).

Dr. Cooper talks about the negative effects of marijuana for the developing person. But I'll see your negative marijuana effects and raise you the negative effects of parents feeding their children McDonald’s, candy bars, and junk food in general.

Aside from Smith, the other two talk about protecting the children from the negative effects of marijuana.

Sigh.

If you throw in negative effects of marijuana for teenagers in high school, I'll raise you the negative effects from the garbage public education system. You tell me, which one is the real evil?

The ideology of "we need to protect the children" is an old junk science argument. Look up Rastafaris who give marijuana to their kids and you’ll find that it’s fine...as long they believe that Haile Selassie is the king of the Earth of course. Haile who? Google it and see for yourself.

Next, Nye shows his team playing ultimate frisbee while high on marijuana against college students who aren't. I'm not sure what this is meant to show. It should be obvious that the non-high team would do better.

Oddly enough, Nye ends the show with a hacker showing him not to click on suspicious links. Umm...okay.

Oh, my bad. It's a lead in for the next episode.
