Growing Cannabis 101: Acquiring Seed

Growing cannabis can be a fun and enlightening experience. If this is your first time participating in any gardening activity you are in for a joyous journey. In this first instalment of Growing Cannabis 101 I will be covering the acquisition of seeds to start your very first plant.

First thing we must discuss is security. While some states allow the cultivation of cannabis, it is still illegal on a federal level so security is paramount. In states with loose medical laws, seeds can easily be acquired from sellers on craigslist.org or other buy/sell sites eliminating the need to use more advanced internet security measures. This means of purchasing requires basic operational security. There is little to no risk in searching for these items, but when it comes time to purchase avoid using email as a means of contact. Make sure you minimize the information you release, such as name and address or location. Use a Tracfone that has been purchased with cash to make the purchase.

The security for online purchases is a bit more complex. The key is to avoid detection. In an era of mass data gathering this is definitely a difficult task. The first step is to pay cash for a prepaid Visa card; your privacy is paramount. Next, you want to load an internet browser called TOR or The Onion Router. TOR uses a series of nodes to hide your IP address. It is not 100% secure, but if used properly it will keep you hidden enough to be safe. TOR would best be used with an Operating System (OS) called Tails. Tails forces all incoming and outgoing traffic through TOR and the whole OS can be stored and used directly from a small thumb drive which can easily be disposed of. Some keys to using TOR effectively is to operate operationally from a WiFi hotspot like that found at a coffee shop. Never use or access any identifying web pages that link your name to the TOR session such as Facebook and similar sites or your daily use email. Never use the same hotspot twice. Do your business and leave. Pay in cash. Think two steps ahead and be cautious.

Now that we have the better part of the security out of the way, lets proceed to actually buying the seeds. There are numerous sites available for ordering cannabis seeds. His site is very informative, sells popular strains and is know for very discreet shipping practices. When your order your cannabis seeds you can narrow your search by all sorts of factors such as high yield, high potency, good beginner, high CBD and many more. Stick to the strains that are easier for beginners which are typically Indica or Afghanica dominant. The broader leaves and shorter stature make them better for indoor cultivation. When you purchase the seeds it takes a few weeks for them to arrive, so be patient. If they don't arrive by a set time, sellers will often send out another order to replace the lost package. When you make your purchase use your prepaid card, release as little information as possible and then have the seeds sent to a friend or family member's house who doesn't grow. Tell them it's a surprise for your girlfriend and you don't want her sneaking a peek.

Ordering seeds can be as easy or difficult as you like depending on how secure you want to be. Being as the federal government and the states don't see eye to eye it is best to maintain a certain level of security. I do not encourage illegal activity.
