Ganja, Syringomyelia and the Law on Narcotics

A few days ago, the news on social media enlivened by the arrest of a man from Sunggau, West Kalimantan, Indonesia named Fidelis Ari Sudarwanto since caught growing marijuana in his home. Which of these plants (in Indonesia) is one type of narcotics group I mentioned in the List of Narcotics Group I number 8 Appendix I of Law No. 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics (Narcotics Law).

Fidelis to BNN (National Anti-Narcotics Agency) and police admitted that he planted marijuana is for a medical necessity of treatment his wife, who suffered from Syringomyelia.

Then the response of various parties emerging, ranging from support in the form of appreciation for BNN, until the curse is tucked in prayer to BNN in the comments field in social media. Some are asking about the disease pathway Yeni (wife Fidelis), what is Syringomyelia? Why is marijuana? What are the benefits for the treatment?

Viewed from a historical perspective, marijuana has been found in a long history of social civilization community in the past, such as in China, India and the Archipelago. (2) In case of actions to plant, maintain, possess, store, control, or provides Narcotics Group I in the form of plants referred to in paragraph (1) weighing more than 1 (one) kilogram or exceeding 5 (five) trunk, the offender shall be punished with life imprisonment or a term of imprisonment of five (5) years and a maximum of 20 (twenty) years and a maximum penalty referred to in paragraph (1) 1/3 (one third)

that's about the punishment for anyone found to consume or possess marijuana in Indonesia, including Fidelis. He had to bury all hopes with his wife, because during the investigation and eventually arrested, his wife no longer get care from Fidelis.
