If you are just joining me in my 4 Part review series of several commercially prepared, cannabis infused tincture sprays, edibles and tea, you can read the first 2 parts here:

Without further ado, let's take a look at the Organic Wild Berry Fruit Gummy created by a company called SUFU. It was the most expensive of all the products, I have tested to date. It cost $15 (Canadian dollars.) Or, a $1.50 per 10 mg dose and there was no detectable cannabis aroma seeping from the closed package.

Of the multitude of products that I decided to test, I was most excited about this one because of its organic and certified laboratory tested claims on its packaging. By far, this product's packaging contains the most consumer information of any of the other 4 products, I examined.

However, it wasn't easy to find much more information about SUFU as an organic company. I do believe it is linked to this rather obscure website: https://www-green-brothers-ca.myshopify.com/pages/about-us

The website appears to be made in 2016. This led me to suspect that perhaps they are a relatively new Canadian company based on the fact that their website ends in .ca. The seal they have used to indicate that their products are laboratory tested is in both the French and English languages, which is another clue of a potential Canadian origin.

When I investigated the name of the testing laboratory, I found that it (the lab) was located in Sidney, B.C. which is in Canada. Here's their website: http://www.mblabs.com/

Here's the "knowns" about SUFU's  organic, infused fruit gummy in the Wild Berry flavour:

  • It claims to be organic;
  • It claims to be certified laboratory tested;
  • It claims to contain 100 mg of THC;
  • It states that their (SUFU's) recommended serving size in grams, is 10 grams;
  • It states that there are 2 servings per package or container. This is marked inaccurately. There is actually 2 pieces included in the package that contain 50 mg of THC each. Each recommended serving size is 10 mg of THC, which equates to 10 individual doses;
  • and it claims that the cannabis used was an Indica strain, grown in 100% organic soil without the use of pesticides.

As you can see, the ingredient list is as follows:

Glucose Syrup, Beet Sugar, Gelatin, Natural Fruit Juice Concentrates, Citric Acid, Natural Flavours, Decarboxylated Honey Oil, Beeswax, and Carnuaba Wax.

The first 4 ingredients are marked with asterisks, indicating that they are organic ingredients. The last 5 ingredients don't share that additional symbolism and I suspect are not organic.

This was also the first product to include a full "nutritional facts" panel. As you can see, between the total carboydrates listed and the grams of sugar, this product is just loaded with sugar, per dose.

13.53 grams to be exact. If you are a person who needs to consume a low carb diet, this product is not for you. Many people eating a low carb diet, make every effort to stay under 30 grams of carbs for their entire day. One little piece of this would take up almost half of their daily allotment. If they are using cannabis as medicine to treat a disease process, there are more healthful ways to eat cannabis. For anybody else, consider it a healthier candy. (That's quite an oxymoron, in nutritional circles.)

This is a picture of 1 of the 2 "gummy" pieces, which were included in the package. You can see the petal design. This piece needs to be cut into 5 equal pieces to obtain a 10 mg dose of THC as advertised.

When I opened the package, I could smell raspberries with a slight cannabis bottom note. A person could easily consume this product without drawing attention to themselves in public.

What wasn't easy was cutting the product into more precise doses.

At first, I tried to cut it with a sharp serrated knife, then when that wouldn't even cut through the top, I used a very sharp butcher's knife.

As you can see, the pieces are not the same size, even when a knife was used. This makes it tricky to control the size of the dose and if you are doing this on the fly, in all likelihood, you'll end up ingesting a bigger dose than you may want. (Please be careful.)

The taste of the gummy was comparable to that of a "wine gum candy". It certainly wasn't as sweet as the Mango Jelly, but again, it still looks like candy, smells like candy and tastes like candy. Extreme caution should be used to protect individuals who may not realize that this product contains medicine.

The "Warning" directives on the package are the best I have seen to date.

I particularly appreciated the statement advising against "cross-fading"  or mixing cannabis with alcohol. I also liked the suggestion that you should check with your doctor about other possible reactions with other prescribed medications. I thought that was very professional of the SUFU company.

At a 10 mg of dose of THC, I thought this product produced a moderately active body effect. Exactly what you would expect from a honey oil extract made from a cannabis Indica strain. It was gentle and I could still function and continue to work. The effects lasted about 2 hours in my body and I felt that I could have easily taken a 30 mg dose of this product.

I welcome your comments and invite you to follow me on my journey.
