RE: How To Make Cannabis Tea: 3 Blends, All Vegan

in #marijuana8 years ago (edited)

I wonder if you could make kombucha out of this tea... cannabis kombucha. How very west coast. ;)

These look amazing Rebecca! What a classy way to get your green. If you use just the leaves, does it have any psychoactive effects? You mentioned priming the other simple infusion ingredients to activate their receptor sites for THC... how might you do this?

If you use raw bud or the leaves trimmed directly from the buds, there is a psychoactive effect, but only after the plant material is decarboxylated. This process involves the lost of carbon dioxide at a specific temperature. In the case of THC, that's about 240 degrees F. To make an active edible or drink, the bud material must go through this process before it is added into a recipe.
The tea that I made had no psychoactive effect because I used the leaves from the rest of the plant, which don't contain cannabinoids.
The "priming" of receptor sites refers to the physiological process of "getting the receptor sites" that uptake THC, CBD and all the other cannabinoids, ready and available to do just that.
Mango and lemongrass are 2 foods that contain similar terpene profiles to cannabis and are able to prime the receptor sites.
