You're great at descriptive detail - the dark woodwork, big old windows, leather chair, the rectory. The old book is awesome. Grant's curiosity is endearing. He is an old soul - which often happens to children who lose a loved one, especially mother. The greatest fear of a child is not losing his own life; it's losing his mother, scientists say. This is awesome: Even though it was only several months ago, to Grant it seemed like a lifetime ago. Thinking back to that time he felt like a little child and now he felt so much more mature, like he could handle anything and most his age only worried about homework and upset parents. Everyone will be rooting fro Grant - kinda like Ender in Ender's Game - the gifted one, isolated from family. When you get to the end, you can go back and tackle punctuation in dialogue and other niggling typo issues. Simple housekeeping, vs the hefty work of overhauling and remodeling (revising) a novel the way I always have to do. Great story!
Thank you so much! Your comment really made me happy. Editing this thing will be quite the feat, but I can't wait to do so and that is rare for me. Normally, I despise editing but I never wrote a book before. ;) I am going to have to do some research on dialogue mechanics, my education is science so not many conversational pieces written in college. It's a high learning process, but lots of fun! Again, thanks for taking the time to read and really appreciate the comment.
