RE: How To Build And Engaging Audience By Thinking Out Of The Box

in #mapsters7 years ago

I don't know. I haven't been keeping track of that. I've been trying to get out to wherever I can, so when posts come in on my own feed and I feel like I can contribute to them, I comment. Otherwise, when those run out, I'm looking for other posts.

So, haven't been purposefully doing anything as far as how many different users' posts I comment on. Why do you ask? Have you been keeping track for me? :)

To be honest I didn't really check you out yet. But you're on my list, together with 322 other items to do.

I just like numbers and analyzing. So I figured it would be like a miracle of you only follow 30 people and then write hundreds of comments per week. In the other hand, sometimes we need only one post to write like 10+ comments.

Well, okay. If I had to guess, the circle I tend to comment on is not quite as wide as the one I end up voting in. My vote circle has been over a 100 that last two times out, so my comment circle is probably somewhat less than that, like somewhere between 80-100. Again, a guess. I only keep track of the number of votes and the number comments.

Talking about numbers, there is something else I wonder about. Did you invest any first money in Steem?

If I remember well, you have much more SP as @lynncoyle1. However I still believe that both of you are somewhat undervalued. And probably a few more of the top commenters.

Did you invest any first money in Steem?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'first' but yes, I did invest some money in STEEM. I was getting tired of dropping dust votes on everything (before I even knew what dust votes were), so I decided to start investing. I did it over the course of three months. So, the bulk of what you see in my wallet is investment.

I meant fiat money. Something went wrong when typing the previous comment on my phone. I use some kind of auto correct keyboard and that changed the word into something out shouldn't be.

So to bad, cause again someone that delivers a really good thing to Steemit is basically almost not rewarded. I checked your rewards and last week you earned 5 Steem and 20 SBD. So if that's your average you basically earn 20-25 Steem per week. I think there are quite some people that earn the same amount for 1 or 2 posts.

Also your numbers of followers is really low. You could say that's because your comment strategy is not really meant to build up a following. But I would say this is a bit of prove that commenting just a lot will not always bring you anything in terms of a big following and financial rewards.

You know, for the first three or so months, I focused quite a bit on those earnings, to the point that it made me really frustrated that I wasn't making more. Then, the leagues came along and after a couple weeks I realized I wasn't looking at the earnings so much as I was trying to add value wherever I could.

I have seen a pick up in the amounts on my posts (from $0.50 to well over a $1 in many cases). I know that's not a whole lot, but there's an accompanying psychological boost to it, which is probably as important as anything on Steemit.

Funny thing about my followers is they are also up, from 200 at the end of March to over 350 by this time, so there has been a relatively significant increase in followers since I started doing this. Most of my comments do not get rewarded, but that's not much different than it was when I was commenting less.

The idea here is, it takes time. I don't know how long it will take for me. I don't know if I have a set goal for a time. Some people here like longevity and perseverance before they'll start upvoting your stuff.

At some point, I will have to dial back what I'm doing here, but I'm hoping that won't be for a while yet.

Theoretical it could be that your financial rewards take off tomorrow. All you need is just a few orcas or whales that give your posts an upvote so now and then. And that could result in 50+ SP per week (especially if you trade all SBD for Steem.

Did you write an introduce yourself post?

A loooooong time ago. Okay in January, within a couple weeks of being here, when I finally realized it was something I should be doing.

I think as long as I'm seeing a steady increase of rewards on my posts, I'll be fine. As you say, something could pop overnight. That's fine, too.

I've kind of been waiting to see if the STEEM price would end up closer to or below the SBD price again. It's now within $0.35 USD, which is the closest its been since STEEM took off. I don't want the price to reverse, but if I can get more STEEM out of the exchange, the better, right?

I hadn't actually intended to accumulate as many as I have, since I've been converting to STEEM and powering up immediately. However, with the price difference, it just got harder to go for it the more the SBD I had. :)
