in #mapala7 years ago

We continue our walk along the sofievsky Park in Uman!

National dendrological park “Sofiyivka” is a park and research institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, located in the northern part of Uman city in Cherkassy oblast, on the banks of Kamenka River.

In this and the following articles I will write about different parts of the Park and unique plants in it.

If you are interested in posts about the park, please write a comment.

You can see the map. Our position is indicated by a red circle.

From Wikipedia:
The park accounts for over 2,000 types of trees and brush (local and exotic) among which are taxodium (marsh cypress), Weymouth Pine, tulip tree, platanus, ginkgo, and many others.

Today we will see unique for Ukraine narcissus:

The pale yellow, double flowers of Narcissus 'Ice King' contrast beautifully with its dark green foliage when they appear in March and April.

The unusual, muli-petalled, greenish yellow flowers of 'Rip van Winkle' make it look very unlike any other daffodil.

What are these flowers?

From Wikipedia

Paeonia tenuifolia is a herbaceous species of peony that is called пион тонколистный (pion tonkolistnyy) in Russian, and nazikyarpaq pion in Azeri, both meaning "fine-leaved peony". In Ukraine it is known as піво́нія вузьколи́ста (pivóniya vuzʹkolýsta), which means "narrow peony", or степова́ піво́нія (stepová pivóniya) "steppe peony", while the Bulgarian/Serbian vernacular names теснолист божур/усколисни божур (tesnolist bozhur/uskolisni božur) and степен божур/степски божур (stepen bozhur/stepski božur), have the same meanings. In English it is sometimes called the fern leaf peony.

A few more plants. You can write the name of plants. Do you know these plants?
