I have finally wake up, far too many times before I have been here for nothing. Punta de Teno, at least, is open for the visitors. Be a rightful tourist and enjoy from a place where no coffee shops, no buses, not even some publics toilets have arrived yet. This is part of the magic after all.

The access, there is only one, to Punta de Teno have been closed for far too much time as falling rocks from the vertical clifts have been falling over the road. The work done in this area from Cabildo de Tenerfe it´s 5 starts, the road that will take you directly to Punta de Teno is perfect and will invite you to enjoy the views and the adventure that is awaiting you.

As you already know, part of the magic from a travel adventure is how you arrive to your destination and here, we should follow as a golden rule. Stop the car, get out of the car, breath the fresh air, let your eyes browse into any corner that your soul tells you, do the pic, breath, close your eyes, get back in the car... you will stop again around the corner....

It doesn´t matter which way you use to reach Punta de Teno you shall go trough some of the most beautiful roads of the west. From the south, you will enjoy Santiago del Teide, Masca, most impressive views from the highest peaks; From the north, Garachico and its natural swimming pools, but surely you will find infinite curve roads that will make your heart speed up and your hands sweat at the wheel.

It's important to arrive with good time to Punta de Teno, with a jumper in the luggage, a quick snack and ready to walk, do never forget to be ready to jump in the sea in case the heat would overcome you.

Its a volcanic landscape, with some amazing views and walking access to the famous Gigantes, an corner of the world that has been nature design to enjoy walking. But lets take it easy for a second, let´s no forget some logistics. We find a parking area big enough for the volume of tourist passing by but stills needs a lot of work to be at the same level as the road we have just enjoy coming here.

You, as much as I did, will allow your eyes to get used to the long distances and giant sizes that surround you, tall walls made of dark rock high 450 meters above the sea, sea that has carved large rounded caves only accesible for the most thriller seekers with noisy and expensive jet skies or the hard but beauty of a kayjack. The strong sea raising up in great columns of with foam when smashing the shiny black rocks. Estrange beauty for such as desolated landscape of stones, cactus and plainness.

Let yourself take by that little voice in your head that will push you straight up to the white tall lighthouse, I found the final access closed and even that, i did enjoy as the tall wooden and metal door well deserved some pictures (sure they will look amazing in black and white my mind shouts).

Going back my gut force me to come out of the settled way, every corner, hole, rock will have to be investigated; most of the time I ended up feeling desee at the edge of a clift surrounded by loose rocks but enjoying the colours of the sea or the fly of the seagulls above my head.

This is how an hour and half past away, as a result were needed four sandwiches, two bottles of water and some salted nuts.

It looks like, for the standard turist, there is not much to do around here. What a shame for the turist!

I do not want to enlarge this adventure for you, but let them suggest a walk. A walk along the sea, very soon you will spot the way mark by the walking that past these lands before you, and no more than 400 meters along the stone way you will find some amazing views of what nature can accomplish and some lonely fisherman not interested in the wildness of the sea.

Natural swimming pools, a volcanic arc, collapsed caves and more than a dozen pictures are awaiting you. There is no need to stop now, i invite you to continue the walk for as long as the weather allows. For me, my two little ones have enjoyed enough and the sun its just about to be eating by the sea in the horizon. I shall go back to the safety of my car and maybe next weekend we will carry on discovering Tenerife.
