Manna Interview With The Founders

in #manna7 years ago

Here is an interview that was conducted last week with the three founders of Manna.

It is interesting to hear, if you don't already know, their backgrounds and the reason why they got together to start the Manna project.

There is some wonderful insight into the reasons why they feel this is needed and what some of the long term plans are for the token. Their goal is to make this a top 10 token by putting it in everybody's hands. There is that potential when you give it away for free.

As I stated in my last post, this is much more than just a basic income project.

Give it a listen.

I absolutely love Manna. Will give a listen to the interview after dinner. Nice team of people.

The more I read about basic income, the more I like it.

Our Mother is abundant and her children should all be well fed and warm.

Absolutely @metzli.

The monetary system is how scarcity is spread. It is hard for humans to evolve upwards as a species when mired in fear and anger that comes as a result of this. As people are brought to basic levels of sustenance, then we can see the advancement of us as beings.

We are only at the beginning stages but the backlash from the elite establishment shows how threatening this is.

The monetary system, created by bankers and run by bankers is criminal. The US Dollar is backed by enslavement of the debt serfs, lies, taxes, extortion, debt and war.

I understand the basic concept of UBI, but:

  1. How is Manna Coins different form other alt coins with air drops?
  2. Why do you collect personal data and how can you secure it?
  3. As with all other alt coins, early adopters get wealthier over time and that creates the same problem it tries to solve.
  4. Is this token only for US citizens? If not, how can you verify the personal details for citizens in other countries, and protect their privacy?
  5. If we have to rely on the will of other wealthy Manna owners for donations to redistribute their wealth, than we are back to todays failed charity business.

Don't get me wrong i like the idea of experimenting with UBI but i don't believe creating a new coin can make it happen.

Also you talk about helping the poor by giving them "free" Manna coins, but wouldn't it be better if the "poor" made their own coin?

The people who will benefit most from this new coin are the early adopters and users with popular referral links.

UPDATE
Fixed too many spelling mistakes.

  1. Airdrops are a one time thing....Manna is paid weekly on an ongoing basis....
  2. It is the law...a US based corporation, even non-profit, involved in crypto has to adhere to the KYC laws.
  3. With anything new, people had to invest early to get over the preliminary stages....the trial run was funded exclusively out of contributions of individuals...
  4. It is available to all citizens around the world....verification is with cell phone...if no cell phone, they have another way to do it which I am not familiar with since do not work for Manna.
  5. All distribution is new currency..it is not redistribution...

Don't get me wrong i like the idea of experimenting with UBI but i don't believe creating a new coin can make it happen.

This is your right...many disagree...we will see who is right.

Also you talk about helping the poor by giving them "free" Manna coins, but wouldn't it be better if the poor made their own coin?

That is up to the poor...although I dont imagine the have the money these days to get through an ICO, at least in the US since there are laws to adhere to and it is getting expensive to bring out a token.

The people who will benefit most from this new coin are the early adopters and users with popular referral links .

When people take the risk early on, I find it odd that people feel they shouldnt profit. Plus, the referral links are for anyone to use...

Nevertheless, people are getting tokens each week...for nothing more than signing up....if you dont think that will work it is fine...

Also, this is a voluntary program...nobody is forced to get involved....nor are any tax dollars used....

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

  1. I was not aware it was on a weekly basis, thanks for clearing this up.

  2. I thought KYC laws only applied to fiat transactions and not crypto.

  3. Thanks, i will take a look at their process. And sorry for addressing the questions to "you", i was under the impression you somehow represented the project.

  4. Reading through their TOS i'm very surprised that there is zero mention of any Privacy Policy, what info is collected and how its stored.

I will keep an eye at the project. I am more interested in the concept than the "free" tokens.

Manna is a permanent airdrop. All the inflation is distributed to everyone.

Anyone with a cell phone can currently get an account.

thanks again for introducing me to manna

UBI is nothing more than a tenant of communism and it always ends with more poverty...money “earned” from nothing always returns to its intrinsic value which is $0

Only Gold and Silver have proven to be long term stores of value and human labor. They are the only money that has stood the test of time for 5,000 years. "Money" as you call it is really currency and everything other than Gold and Silver is credit and debt.

The 3rd Central Bank in the United States is the Federal Reserve (Which is neither Federal nor has any reserves) and the source of all of the funding of the wars and socialist programs brought on by the Republicans and Democrats elected into office by a dumbed down populace.

Really, it is?

That is what happens when I read the views of Commies such as Milton Friedman...

https://medium.com/basic-income/why-milton-friedman-supported-a-guaranteed-income-5-reasons-da6e628f6070

Also to have a political system, dont you need a political establishment like a government involved.

Please tell me how distribution of tokens is communism...

TM4450, we agree on a lot....its just that on UBI we do not.

UBI coordinated via government where tax money is taken from one group and distributed to another group via the tax system (even via negative tax rates) is a tenant of Communism (or Socialism-light)...call it what you want, but its redistribution of wealth. Its government force...it will in the long run reduce freedom...and its a form of theft.

People are "entitled" to nothing. If one group of people are "entitled" to something, someone else has to be forced to provide it. Something doesn't come from nothing.

Based on what I've read about Manna it doesn't qualify as UBI, its just a marketing term to help the project gain exposure. I don't think it will gain traction, but I wish them luck.

Milton Friedman was a statist who believed in an authoritarian central government. In ways that matter to me, there isn't much of a difference between him, Republicans/Democrats & most politicians that call now themselves Libertarians.

I believe the majority of human interaction should be voluntary and free from force or threats of imprisonment from elected bureaucrats who are only accountable to special interests. Else we are all debt slaves and owned by the state.
