The Worst Parents in Manga
Ed boards in Shou Tucker's house while preparing for the State Alchemists test. Shou Tucker created the chimera that understands human word and became a state alchemist.
His wife ran away from home because of poverty and he lives with his daughter, Nina and her dog, Alexander. Meanwhile, Shou Tucker is nervous about his research results on State Alchemists.
Actually, Shou Tucker's situation is pretty bad. Since the previous year's assessment was unfavorable, it is extremely burdensome for Shou Tucker. Shou Tucker must maintain status alchemists in order to protect her life with Nina.
Ed is very astute and clever as well as other kids his age. Ed finds out that Nina's family picture was burned by the fire and felt suspicious. So Ed examines the data about Shou Tucker's chimera, but Ed was not able to access the data because they're top-secret. Ed hears shocking facts from Hughes.
“The chimera repeated that it wanted to die and starved to death a few days later. But there were people who thought it was useful.”
“What happened to Shou Tucker's wife?”
"I heard she died before moving to Central. "
Due to Glan's pressure, Ed and Al leave the Shou Tucker's house. After they leave, Glan puts pressure on Shou Tucker for his research achievements.
Ed and Al have suspicion, but no critical evidence. They want to believe Shou Tucker who took care of them. So they hope nothing will happen. When they arrived at the lab, there was already a chimera in the lab. But the chimera welcomes Ed and Al.
“A complete chimera that understands human word. Listen, He is Edward”
[Edward...]
“Yes, Good job.”
[Good... job...?]
“I can’t believe it. It’s really speaking!”
“I made it just in time for the assessment. Now I won't have to worry about my research funds.”

First chimera is made of Shou Tucker’s wife. She became a chimera, but she starved herself to death. It was almost suicide.
In order to get results, Shou Tucker makes his daughter and a pet dog a chimera. Ed didn't doubt that initially, but the chimera suddenly told him he was Brother. So they interrogate Shou Tucker about the identity of the chimera.
Eventually, the truth was revealed by Ed and Al. Shou Tucker is committed to a military trial on charges of an inhumane experiment. Of course, his State Alchemists are disqualified. But Shou Tucker and Nina is killed by Scar before he gets put on trial.
Scar had a brother who was an Alchemist, so he noticed Nina's identity. Scar believes that killing Nina may be better for her because she's been tested until she dies. It seems that euthanasia was possible as well. It remains an unforgettable event for Ed and Al.
- In the comic book, the characters who died in the chapter are depicted drawing pictures to heaven. And in that pictures, Shou Tucker falls into the hell alone.
