The first christians in Malta: But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. Acts 28:5

The Book of Acts tells how Christianity came to Malta, with the arrival of the apostle Paul to that famous island, which at that time was part of the Roman Empire.
Paul as a Roman citizen had to appear before the emperor by order of King Agrippa, as the apostle Paul had requested as part of his defense, after being arrested upon his arrival in Jerusalem at the end of his third missionary journey.
During his arrest, Paul saw his life in danger numerous times, but with spiritual assistance from above, he managed to begin his long-awaited trip to Rome, where he wanted, in addition to carrying out his defense, to preach the Kingdom of God in Rome, the capital of the empire.
According to the Book of Acts, Paul arrived in Malta as a result of the shipwreck of the ship that had left Asia and was headed to Rome.
And once they arrived on the island, its inhabitants, according to the Book of Acts, confused Paul with a God, which facilitated the conversion of the first Christians on the island.
This is how the Book of Acts relates Paul's prodigious sign:
"The islanders showed us unusual kindness. They built a fire and welcomed us all because it was raining and cold. Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, ´This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live.´ But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead; but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god." Acts 28:2-6.
After this, many embraced faith and were healed by Paul in the name of the Lord Jesus, and thus the church of Malta was born, and the number of those who had to be saved increased.
