Quad Eyeshadow Tutorial | Earthy Tones

In this step-by-step makeup tutorial you learn about how you can use an eyeshadow palette with 4 various eyeshadow shades. This tutorial includes also a video tutorial so, it’s your choice whether you want to read or watch it but please enjoy!

I’ve done already a similar tutorial about an eyeshadow palette with various tones of greens in it. This just includes a video tutorial without any written step-by-step explanation.

Let’s start with today’s tutorial:

Step 1: Prime Time.

If you have pretty oily eyelids and you know that any shadows can crease on your lids during the day, go for any eye primer!

Eye primers will prevent any creasing on your eyelids and you don’t have to worry about your eye makeup.

Pick any eye primer and apply it to your lid. You can use a brush or your finger. Apply it to the mobile lid and blend it from the upper lash line towards the brows. Blend it evenly and give it a few seconds to dry.

Step 2: Second Darkest Shade.

Go for the second darkest shade in your palette. Since this tutorial is about earthy-tones. Take the second darkest brown shade and a fluffy eyeshadow brush. This shade belongs in your crease.

If you’re using the fluffy brush, make sure to hold it in the right angle where you want to get some shadow otherwise you’ll get the shade somewhere else where you don’t want it.

Step3: Lower Lash Line.

Take the same crease shade from before and pop this one on the lower lash line as well. You could use the same brush or take a flat eyeshadow brush as I used.

Step 4: Second Lightest Shade.

Apply the second lightest brownish/nudish shade on your mobile lid with your finger.

It doesn’t matter if the shade has some shimmery in it or not but if you want to get a lot more pigmentation out of it, use your finger.

Apply this shade only on your mobile lid and blend it with the crease shade. You can blend it with your finger or a brush, like the fluffy brush – the shades just needs to melt into each other and prevent any harsh lines.

Step 5: Darkest Shade.

Now on to the darkest shade. Take an angled brush and setting spray or water to dampen the brush and dig into the darkest shade.

Since this is the darkest shade, you can easily create a winged eyeliner with it. Make sure that the brush is evenly dampened so that the shadow can glide on smoothly.

Step 6: Lightest Shade.

Only one shade is missing! The lightest shade!

This is your highlighter. Take a lip brush or a small shadow brush (flat or pointed). The smaller the brush the easier to apply the highlighter.

Apply the lightest shade in the inner corner of your eye and underneath your brow. If it’s a natural shade (as seen on the picture) you also could use a shade like that as your face-highlighter which can look so pretty!

Step 7: Mascara.

To finish the eye makeup look, pick your favourite mascara and add a few coats to your lashes.

Step 8: Lips.

With an eye makeup look like that you can wear whatever lipstick shade you want! These shades are so natural that you can go for any color!

I went for a pretty pinkish shade. If you need to, apply at first the lip liner, to even out your lip shape then apply a liquid lipstick that dries matte.

If you need to do some corrections around your lip, take a flat concealer brush and some concealer to sharpen the outlines around your lip.
