Kiss Inspired Makeup Look.

in #makeup8 years ago

I just wanted to sit down and create a new makeup look. I already had a basic idea of what I wanted to use and how it should look. Now that I’m writing this tutorial, I noticed that the end of the makeup look is something completely different than I expected.

So, while I was creating the look. I switched between various products and removed some parts of my makeup and reapplied it because I wasn’t happy about how it had turned out.

And at the end of the makeup look, I believed that this look could be a modern version of a Kiss makeup look.

So, let’s get into the tutorial:

Step 1: Prime.

Always prime your eyes before you’re going to apply any eyeshadow. If you’re struggling with oily eyelids, eye primer prevents creasing because it stops your eyelids from getting oily.

Apply a bit of eye primer to your eyelids and blend it with your finger.

Step 2: Tape.

Get yourself some tape and cut a piece of tape off. Then cut your piece of tape again so that you’ll have two thin pieces of tape. Then place each piece at the outer corner of your eyelids, following the lower lash line towards the end of your brow tail.

This is a beauty tip when you want to create a winged eyeliner or a sharper outer corner with some shadow.

Step 3: Pink/Purple Highlighter.

If you have highlighters at home that you really love, use them as eyeshadow to create a beautiful eye makeup look as well!

That’s what I did. I went for the pink/purple shifting highlighter and placed it all over my eyelid. At first, I used my finger to apply it and towards the tape then I used a flat damp eyeshadow brush.

You can dampen a brush with a bit of water or setting spray to get the full pigmentation out of a shadow or highlighter.

Step 4: Remove Tape.

In this step, I removed the tape and reapplied a bit of foundation because tapes can take off a bit of your base but it also depends on what type of tape you use.

Step 5: Black Pencil.

Adding a bit of black pencil on the lower waterline will cover up the skin. So that your lower lash line will look a bit more connected to the rest of your makeup.

Step 6: Gel Eyeliner.

The reason why I used some tape earlier was because the tape gave me a perfect and clean line that I then followed with some gel eyeliner with a detailing brush.

I filled in the whole lower lash line with some black gel eyeliner and connected the wing with the lower lash line, as you would do normally on the upper lash line.

Step 7: Black Eyeshadow.

To set the gel eyeliner, I used some black eyeshadow on a flat eyeshadow brush and I also smoked out the lower lash line a bit. I kept the smoked-out part towards the inner section of my lower lash line.

Step 8: Liquid Liner.

After some fails, I then decided to use a black liquid liner to create a special shape on my lower lash line (look in the picture) and I created more of a thicker winged eyeliner.

I personally found out that I had a better control of creating clean lines with the liquid liner as with the gel.

This might also be just preference.

Step 9: Mascara.

Adding mascara to the lash finished up the eye makeup look.

Step 10: Contour.

If you have a cool-toned brownish shade in an eyeshadow palette, I would recommend you take this shade and use it as contour. That way you don’t have to spend some extra money on contouring powders.

I love this rectangular shaped face brush for contour because it just fits in everywhere! But you can pick the brush you personally prefer!

Step 11: Black Lips.

Since I don’t own any black lipstick, I used some theater cream makeup. This colorful circle gets used in theater makeup and you can mix whatever color you want!

So that’s what I did, I used the black cream color as lipstick. I used a lip brush and applied it to my lips.

To set the cream makeup, I used some black eyeshadow instead of translucent powder because I really wanted to keep my lips as black as possible.

To give some pop to my lips, I used the same highlighting shade as I used for my eyelids and I personally found that this just changed the whole lip look.

Step 12: Blush.

I used a deep pink blush and it was a matte blush! And I applied it as some singers did back then in the 70’s or 80’s. I started off on the apples of my cheeks and dragged it nearly all the way up to my temples. I haven’t used it light-handed!

Heavy blush to make them stand out!

So that’s it for today’s tutorial! I hope you enjoyed today’s time-travel makeup look and don’t forget to give me your thumbs up to support my makeup tutorials!

xoxo, Melissa

I found this so interesting and very different from many other makeup tutorials I have seen here. I loved the end of the makeup look, it's pretty dark and since I'm a huge fan of Kiss, I have to say that I loved this makeup look. I would certainly try it!

Thank you :)
