Copper – Petrol Blue Makeup Look

in #makeup8 years ago

A few days ago, I asked my father if he could bring me some copper paper from the factory because I wanted to create a makeup look – the one I’m going to show you now (:

So, the next day, he brought some with him and gave it to me. He works at a copper factory – don’t ask me what he is working on because he isn’t allowed to talk about it.

I now have a few of these copper papers with me, and I’m going to create something that is more of a creative/abstract makeup look. For now, I do not know what I’m going to do with it so. I’m going with the flow; the ideas will come while creating it (:

As usual, I already have my base in place. You can either do your eyes first or your face – as you prefer. Both are correct.

Let’s start:

Step 1: Bake.

Since I’ve done my base first, I’m now going to bake underneath my eyes as this will catch any fallout from my eyes.

Use a damp sponge and some translucent powder. Dip the sponge heavily into the powder and press it right under your eyes. From the inner corner towards the end of your brows – this can also help you create a shape for your eye makeup.

If some eyeshadow falls off your eyelids, the powder won’t allow it to mess up your base.

Step 2: Petrol Blue.

Since copper has an orange tint to it, I’m going to play with the opposite color of the color wheel - blue.

First, use a flat eyeshadow brush or your index finger to apply the petrol blue to the main lid. This will give you the most pigmentation.

Step 3: Blend.

Using a blending brush will help you to get rid of any stripes or uneven borders. Blend it towards your crease and above so that the color will be visible with your eyes open.

Step 4: Conceal.

Take a small flat concealer or eyeshadow brush with some skin-toned concealer on it. Create a roundish eyeshadow shape with the concealer. Do not erase too much; it should be visible above your crease with your eyes open.

Slowly take off and blend the concealer into the skin. Also, check in the mirror to see whether you have taken off enough of the petrol blue eyeshadow or you can reduce it. Also, check if both eyes are even by looking at the mirror with your eyes completely open.

Every time you dip into some concealer and take off the eyeshadow, swipe it on the back of your hand too. This way, you don’t mess up your eye makeup look.

Step 5: Add Pigment.

Now, take a small buffer brush (roundish dense eyeshadow brush) and dip this one into the petrol blue shade again to make the border of the rounded eye shape more intense.

Step 6: Set Concealer.

To set the concealer that you have applied around the upper eyelid, you can take a fluffy eyeshadow brush with some translucent powder and dust this on top of the concealer. This will set the concealer.

Step 7: Dust Away.

Taking a big powder brush will help you to dust the baking powder underneath your eyes away. This should set and brighten your under-eye area as well as prevent any fallout from the eyeshadow.

Step 8: Soaped up brows.

Brushed up eyebrows are now trending, so I’m showing you a different technique on how you can reach this.

You will need a Bar of soap and a spoolie.

Take a bar of soap that doesn’t have a tint when it’s wet. If the soap gets white, that’s alright. Then wet the soap or your spoolie just a tiny bit. Swirl the spoolie on that bar of soap to get some soap on it.

Now, you can brush the spoolie into your brow hairs. Of course, brushing them upwards will give you the “brushed-up eyebrow look.”

Step 9: Copper Paper.

Get yourself some “real or fake” copper looking papers. You can get some in a makeup craft store in tiny jars. Normally, these are so thin that they will break by just touching them.

Then if you need to, you can cut for yourself some tiny pieces of copper to pop on your eyes later on.

Step 10: Stick them on.

Now, you will need some glitter glue, cotton tip, eyeliner brush and the tiny copper pieces.

Place some glitter glue on the back of your hand or mixing palette, then dip the eyeliner brush into the glue and place it to the areas of your eyes or around your eyes.

Now use the cotton tip, which you can wet a little, to pick up the tiny copper pieces and stick them to the glue. Get creative! They don’t need to be in a row!

Step 11: Mascara.

Add a few coats of mascara at the end, and you are done with the eye makeup. I would recommend doing the mascara before applying the pieces.

Step 12: Lips.

Using your foundation brush or sponge from before can help you to cancel out your natural lip color.

Next, you can line your lips with a blue eyeliner pencil. Then apply a liquid blue lipstick that’s similar to your eyeshadow.

You can also be creative on your lips. Adding little copper flakes to or around your lips can complete the look – I’ve added a stripe from the copper paper in the middle of my lower lip, and I did the same on the bridge of my nose – I added everything with the same glitter glue.

Of course, this isn’t a makeup look that you would wear as daily makeup but it’s a great idea for creating similar types of makeup looks for a photo shooting.

xoxo, Melissa
