Maybelline City Mini Pallet in Matte About Town

Yep, I have found more of the City Mini Pallets from Maybelline. I am really not sure if they are coming out with more of them or I just never found these before when I went in search for all of them. Nevertheless, here is another City Mini review and tutorial. Let's get started...

Okie, dokie, let's start. First off, I tried hard not to, and I didn't want to say it, but I won't lie to you about makeup reviews, so here it goes........I have mixed feelings about this pallet. I'm shaking my head in disbelief as I type this out.

I don't know what happened either. I was so excited about it. When I started swatching the pallet on my arm I was thinking about the quality and pigmentation and just how incredible they are from this pallet. But when I started trying to make multiple looks from it, I got really hung up with it.

I can't seem to make different looks look different enough. See what I mean?

I made both of these looks with different colors and still got very similar looks. Below is how I made each look so you can re-create one or the other if you have the pallet.

And, apparently the eye color prompted my choice of lip color, which were nearly the exact same color except one has some shine to it.

I'm frustrated for sure about this. I think the colors are so beautiful, pigmentation is strong, and shadows are soft and blendable....but darn it, the colors just didn't work for me. Have you ever had that happen with a pallet? It's dis-heartening for sure.

But I am not giving up. I think I am going to show a simple "no makeup, makeup" look for tomorrow, I have two beautiful lipsticks I just got and they are on the more bold-ish side so I think they will look beautiful with a simple matte eye look. I have been playing with adding in different single shadows to this pallet to try and make it work, but nothing I am so far completely happy with to show you. But I will continue to get the most out of this pallet and show you my successes along the way.

I will continue to use and update you on this pallet.
