I'm going to try and answer everyone here is one fell swoop; not an easy feat for prose, so bullet points it is!
- @crypto-econom1st : Thank you for what I can see is a statistical tribute to my commenting prowess here ;) I don't like or follow stats much (no offense to your appreciation of them!), but what I can tell you is that I do type fairly fast, but that stat should have the least amount of weight in your calculations. I truly enjoy engaging with people here, finding out their stories, and becoming a genuine part of their life. Seriously! It's not about numbers or games with me. I'm the one at a party, when first arriving doesn't know a soul, but by the time I leave, I'm hugging all of my new friends goodbye:) Your last line struck me too...not really negative, just "hmmmm, what's that all about?", but after reading through the comments, I see it was a bot you have in mind. Even if you could do that successfully, and your bot took first place in @abh12345's Curation League, it would have no way of competing against my shiny human personality haha Thank you again for the post, it is a sweet and fun thing you did and I appreciate it!
- @davemccoy, my online night in shining armour ;) Even when you were unsure of @crypto-econom1st's intentions, you jumped to save my honour. That is what this is all about!! Not numbers, total comments etc. You are so not "bad boy Mccoy"...This farmgirl is going back to the Prince of Steemit ;)
- @simplymike: I too didn't see any jabs in this post and thought it was all in fun. As an "unemployed and handicapped person", you're sure managing to work those little gardening thumbs of yours just fine! I now feel you breathing down the necks of those in front of you on the League lists haha. Your determination is truly amazing, seeing what pain and discomfort you must still be in. When you are back to 100%, I'm sure we will see the crown placed beautifully on those dreadlocks soon enough! :)
- @abh12345: You the man! Look at the can you opened with your dreaded Curation Leagues haha I'm sure I can speak for most of us, that you would be the first to know if any of us saw spam comments competing for the crown! Your 'contest' has sparked or encouraged genuine commenting on steemit, and for that, I am forever grateful; it makes steemit such a real place!
- @beeyou, stop saying you're lazy!! Your plate is so full with work, family and steemit, congratulate yourself for getting all the things done that you do! Plan the team meeting here in Playa del Carmen and I'll include the girly umbrella drinks for you (forget the coffee!), then we'll all experience what lazy really means! And I'm really not that competitive...I know I know...but I'm not! When I made first place, of course I wanted to keep it, but I really am perfectly ok with second. The stress is too much for me and as long as I know I'm doing my best, that's good enough for me. Seriously...I have a feeling you're not buying that hahah
- @glenalbrethsen, thank you so much for your kind defense of me as well! The crown suits you perfectly...this week! You totally earned it with your thought provoking comments, but I truly hope that you didn't get that crown permanently altered in any way. There are way too many people barking up this same tree haha I'm enjoying watching you comment all over the place...your best efforts to retain it is magic in the making :)
- @fullcoverbetting, You type mostly on your phone! ugh! My computer died a couple of days ago and I tried my phone for all of 30 minutes before I was ready to throw it against the wall. For real! You and @simplymike have my kudos for that...perhaps we can create a League just for those who type on their phones! And I see that you are suffering from "lack of interest". I've been there and found it best to step away 100% for a day or so, and then come back with a fresh set of eyes. This really does need to stay fun, because I don't know about you, but it's sure not the money that's keeping me here ;)

I agree that it is about enagement, it is about the people! The league is just a little extra game, but not why we are here.
I noticed we’ve gone from coffee over beer to umbrella drinks... sounds like a great evolution. But not in Playa Del Carmen... I can’t take all those dogs on the plane ;0P

re: defense
In reality, you need none, but I thought it might be interesting/insightful to those gathering here on this post to read what it took last week for me to get to the No. 1 spot, and also what you didn't do for me to get there. It was both. If I had not put in the time, I still would not(just added the 'not' because it's kind of important here) have moved past you. So, anyone hoping to take your crown, or in my case, hold onto it for another week, what you're doing in the time allotted is nothing less than spectacular.
I suppose everyone already knew that, but since this is a post about quantifying what you're doing, I wanted to help out.
re: retain the crown
No alterations (it's not one size fits all?). I'm keeping it on a pedestal in a vacuum sealed box under lock and key and heavy guard. Don't really want to be weighted down by it, since I carry enough weight as it is. :)
re: barking up the same tree
Absolutely. Just as I popped into the top 3 along with @leeart, anyone else could do the same, and there's plenty of people joining in that I know I'm not aware of yet, so no rest for the weary.
re: magic in the making
If you say so. I really don't feel like I'm all over the place with my commenting, though I am trying to get farther and farther out, but then I keep finding where the action is and feel like I probably need to particpate there, too.

I disagree with this. This because not everybody can devote the same amount of time on the Steem blockchain. Some people also don't have insomnia like some of us do!
I do not to intend to take any credits away from the engagement you all are giving to Steem! You all deserve your spot in the top of the league! But we all most stay humble and remember that not everybody is playing with the same chances. Let's be honest, if you take a step back and look at the engagement of the top 10, they could quantify us as lunatics :)
That's why I did find it important and the sponsor the lucky 25!
It definitely requires time. In my case, more than I will be able to keep up for more than a few more weeks, maybe, unless I can find a way to streamline things a little, get more organized. There might not be a way due to the nature of a global social media platform that literally never sleeps because the participants are all coming and going at different times.
However, anyone who can and wants to dedicate the time can end up in the top 10. I would hope that it wouldn't be such an easy thing that someone who spent an hour a day ended up in the top 10, unless they're really, really good. :)
It's true, not everyone is playing with the same amount of time to dedicate here. My concern there is they get discouraged about what they're doing, when all of it contributes and all of it counts. You obviously feel that way, too, through rewarding No. 25. It's a great thing, I think. It makes the first idea, the leagues, that much better.

That's indeed why I decided to sponsor the engagement league a little bit! I know how much spend I do spent on the Steem blockchain, I can for sure understand not everybody can spent so much time to the Steem blockchain.
It is possible that they just don't want to spent so much time on the platform, or that they just can't. With 2 kids growing up, a full time job and a wife, it is hard to keep things in balance. And, although I do like it very very much, my offline life will always come first!
To give the people who are not capable or willing to spent so much time on the Steem blockchain but still do their utmost best to engage and interact, the lucky 25 came to mind! It was also giving @abh12345 some support! He does so much for us, so it was time to stand up and instead of saying that I do support him, actually show the support!
And his idea works! All over the blockchain I do see names for the engagement leagues popping up! And that's what it is about. It is now how much we spend here but how we use it!
haha all your "re:" are killing me, but a very effective way to respond. I sometimes wish I could just "get in" your comment and reply there!

I just realized that I missed a 'not' in that part where I was trying to explain that if you hadn't had taken off all the time you did, even with the work I did, it still wouldn't have been enough. Kind of an important word, 'not', particularly in that sentence.
Since you didn't mention it, you either supplied it yourself, of which I thank you, or you gave me a pass, of which I thank you even more. :)

First let me point out that I don' think that @crypto-econom1st was trying to be nasty. He is just a guy that likes statistics, he really did not want to offend any of us! I did see some spread sheets he made about his curation tactics, so he is only analyzing the results and give his viewpoints in the league. Which was refreshing and a little bummer, because now I do understand that I will never have a change on winning league 2. Thx for spoiling the fun :)

Number always can be manipulated, of course! And I can think on plenty of cheats, with which one can easily win league 2! But I will never use them. I have just too much pride for doing that!
