Lumba Sumba Pass Trek

With so much excitement I and my wife Rebecca landed in Kathmandu on March 22, 2019. We were doing a three-week trek on the eastern Himalayas of Nepal with Pasang from Mount Adventure Holidays. This was my second trip to Nepal while the first time Rebecca, we both were dreaming of this holiday ever since we heard about the beautiful Himalayas. We boarded our flight for Bhadrapur in the morning and then took a jeep drive to the place called Taplejung. We were accompanied by our porter Nima, and we started descending to the banks of Tamor River following the trail to Mitlung village.

We trekked through Chiruwa, Lelep, Ela Danda, Selep Kharka and reached the village Olangchung Gola on our 8th day. This village had just 45 houses and a 400-year-old monastery. Along the trail, we saw many beautiful mountains, streams, and rich biodiversity. From Olangchung Gola we trekked further to Langmale Kharka through the Rhododendron forest, we made our first camp stay. The next day, we trekked to the Pass Camp at an altitude of 4750m, we made our second camping stay in the wilderness of the beautiful Himalayas. Afterward, we trekked to Yak Kharka and made our third camping stay. The stunning mountain views and landscapes with the rural life was a truly fascinating life experience.

On the 12th day, we started trekking back through the villages of Thudam, Kharka, Chyamtang, Hatiya, Gola, and Ghadi. Along the way, we saw many ancient-looking villages and lifestyles. We truly enjoyed Nepalese hospitality and food on the teahouses. From Ghadi we trekked up to Num and picked up a jeep to the Tumlingtar airport. The following day we boarded the flight back to Kathmandu. After 19 days of the trek, we still had one day until the departure flight. We explored several world heritage sites and did some souvenir shopping.
