Seven days ago, we were so close to a major global crisis.

On Thursday, July 25, an asteroid, about 57 to 130 meters in diameter, passed the Earth by, most recently only 73,000 kilometers away, equivalent to one fifth of the distance between the Earth and the moon. Without the knowledge of most people, we survived a "doomsday crisis".

It wasn't until the day before it arrived on Earth that the asteroid was discovered by the Brazilian SONEAR Observatory and NASA and codenamed 2019 OK.
