Mainframe Review

Mainframe is a cryptocurrency protocol layer that will be able to have communications or messaging dapps built on top of it. Think of applications such as Facebook Messenger, Slack, Wechat or any other well known messaging app. The difference between Mainframe and these other applications is that Mainframe will be focused on providing privacy and freedom(through censorship and surveillance resistance. The Mainframe team has already proven its worth by creating their own messaging Dapp named Onyx on the platform. The Dapp is working and is available for download from their github. One of the two main focuses of the Mainframe project is to ensure the privacy of any Dapp built on top of the Mainframe protocol layer. All messages from end to end are encrypted. Data privacy has become a huge issue as the world has become more and more digital in nature and Mainframe wants to bring more privacy and security to the digital age. By creating a decentralized protocol all of the information transferred via Mainframe will be encrypted, private and fully protected.

The other key focus of the Mainframe project is to provide freedom for the Dapp users. This freedom is provided in the form of surveillance and censorship resistance. Currently, with the use of public IP addresses it is very easy for someone to find your location through the internet. It is also very easy for someone to disrupt or interfere with services or information you receive in a similar manor to how the Chinese governments blocks its citizens from viewing certain websites. Mainframe intends to use the power of the blockchain and its decentralized nature to combat this interference of freedom.

At heart Mainframe's mission of putting an emphasis on privacy and freedom is the same sentiment felt by Satoshi Nakamoto when he created Bitcoin. And by championing this cause Mainframe is following in his footsteps. Dapps built on Mainframe can allow for internal, private and secure workplace messaging Dapps, data gathering for research projects or even communications directly between IOT devices in the future. All of these use cases could have a positive impact on the world while also staying true to the nature of cryptocurrency at heart by being decentralized and secure.
