AS CITIZENS GIVEN THE RIGHT 190 YEARS AGO TO VOTE FOR CHANGE IF WE WANT IT, WE HAVE TO TAKE ON BOARD THE WAR WE’RE INVOLVED IN….AND NOT MERELY OBSESS ABOUT BREXIT AS ONE BATTLE.
IN TURN, WE NEED TO EMBRACE THE KIND OF ELECTORALLY COORDINATED TECHNOLOGY AVAILABLE TO THOSE OF US WHO ARE GENUINELY SERIOUS ABOUT GIVING DIRECT DEMOCRATIC POWER BACK TO THE PEOPLE.
THE ÉLITES WILL NEVER GIVE US THIS RESPONSIBILITY, FOR THEY ARE TOO BUSY BROWN-NOSING THE GLOBALIST BUSINESSES, CENTRAL BANKERS, MEDIA MOGULS, ENERGY CLIQUES, SPOOKS AND MILITARY PSYCHOS BEHIND WHOM CITIZEN INTERESTS ALWAYS COME A VERY POOR LAST.
BUT THERE IS A RAPIDLY GROWING RESISTANCE THAT IS ORGANISED, AND CAN DELIVER “GROUND GAME” SOLUTIONS TO GIVE THE DISENFRANCHISED A DEFINING SAY IN WHERE HUMANITY GOES FROM HERE.
ALL WE REQUIRE GOING FORWARD IS SOME SPECTACULAR DEMONSTRATIONS OF WHAT USER-FRIENDLY SOFTWARE CAN DO….AND THE WILLINGNESS OF ANGRY FRUSTRATED CITIZENS TO EMBRACE IT.
IN THE MEANTIME, THE WORD FROM DOWNING STREET IS THAT THERESA MAY BRING HER “DEAL” BACK FOR A FOURTH GO….THIS TIME (I SUSPECT) SPEAKER BERCOW WILL HAVE TO DISALLOW IT. THOSE WHOM THE GODS WOULD DESTROY, THEY FIRST MAKE MAD.
THERE IS BUT ONE CONUNDRUM, AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IT IS, BUT OUR ELECTED REPREHENSIBLES REFUSE TO ADMIT IT: WE ARE A LEAVE ELECTORATE IMPRISONED BY INDIRECTLY ELECTED REMAINERS.
THAT, DEAR READER, IS WHAT MUST CHANGE.

Hi Roger, I hope you are doing well. I am a Brexiteer and community manager at Everipedia. I noticed you created a couple of pages on Everipedia and was hoping I could help sort them out for you as they are not encyclopedic and not sourced properly. What you needs is an Everipedia article on “Democrats and Veterans” and merge these 2 pages into that. I can help if you like and most welcome to discuss. Kind Regards, Paul

“NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN DISCOURSE HAVE SO MANY OWED SO LITTLE TO SO FEW”
Inbetween battering my spine on a sit-on mower mulching, lurching, jumping and jerking its way through resistant grass grown long in this, the mild Spring of our heated discontent, I took breaks to watch yesterday’s Commons debate leading up to the most definitively Meaningless Vote of my lifetime.

I didn’t bother watching Speaker Bercow yelling that “the noes have it”, because it was obvious from 11 pm the night before that the Prime Minister’s cynical Best of Three con would fail. But out of interest (and thoroughly vindictive satire) I did record what each of the main hypocrites and virtues signallers had to say in the Lower Chamber….a Chamber limboing ever lower beneath the yardstick of contempt.

My overriding view of proceedings is that – with notable exceptions here and there – almost every…

by Matt Wells

Founded in 2000, Matt Wells created Gigablast to index hundreds of billions of pages with the least amount of hardware possible. Gigablast provides large-scale, high-performance, real-time information retrieval technology and services for partner sites. The company offers a variety of features including topic generation and the ability to index multiple document formats. This search delivery mechanism gives a partner "turn key" search capability and the capacity to instantly offer search at maximum scalability with minimum cost. Clients range from NASDAQ 100 listed corporations to boutique companies.
Gigablast is one of a handful of search engines in the United States that maintains its own searchable index of over a billion pages.
For more information, contact Gigablast.

New Stuff Afoot
Jan 27, 2018

Gigablast now auotmatically generates news every 10 minutes from millions of web sites. It is unrestricted in that it pulls news from any website. It is not sandboxed to a list of news outlets that pay money for traffic nor does it promote news sites that pay for promotion. Users can specify their preferred country and language of news in a simple drop down. The news is currently presented in up to two sections. The first section, if available, is called Breaking News and consists of stories that are under one hour old and it is sorted by the age of the story. The second section is Top Stories and basically contains all the relevant news stories from the last several hours, sorted by a popularity metric. As time passes stories will come and go, rise and fall, like the tide.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_scraping

Techniques[edit]
Web scraping is the process of automatically mining data or collecting information from the World Wide Web. It is a field with active developments sharing a common goal with the semantic web vision, an ambitious initiative that still requires breakthroughs in text processing, semantic understanding, artificial intelligence and human-computer interactions. Current web scraping solutions range from the ad-hoc, requiring human effort, to fully automated systems that are able to convert entire web sites into structured information, with limitations.
Human copy-and-paste[edit]
Sometimes even the best web-scraping technology cannot replace a human’s manual examination and copy-and-paste, and sometimes this may be the only workable solution when the websites for scraping explicitly set up barriers to prevent machine automation.
Text pattern matching[edit]
A simple yet powerful approach to extract information from web pages can be based on the UNIX grep command or regular expression-matching facilities of programming languages (for instance Perl or Python).
HTTP programming[edit]
Static and dynamic web pages can be retrieved by posting HTTP requests to the remote web server using socket programming.
HTML parsing[edit]
Many websites have large collections of pages generated dynamically from an underlying structured source like a database. Data of the same category are typically encoded into similar pages by a common script or template. In data mining, a program that detects such templates in a particular information source, extracts its content and translates it into a relational form, is called a wrapper. Wrapper generation algorithms assume that input pages of a wrapper induction system conform to a common template and that they can be easily identified in terms of a URL common scheme.[3] Moreover, some semi-structured data query languages, such as XQuery and the HTQL, can be used to parse HTML pages and to retrieve and transform page content.
DOM parsing[edit]
Further information: Document Object Model
By embedding a full-fledged web browser, such as the Internet Explorer or the Mozilla browser control, programs can retrieve the dynamic content generated by client-side scripts. These browser controls also parse web pages into a DOM tree, based on which programs can retrieve parts of the pages.
Vertical aggregation[edit]
There are several companies that have developed vertical specific harvesting platforms. These platforms create and monitor a multitude of “bots” for specific verticals with no "man in the loop" (no direct human involvement), and no work related to a specific target site. The preparation involves establishing the knowledge base for the entire vertical and then the platform creates the bots automatically. The platform's robustness is measured by the quality of the information it retrieves (usually number of fields) and its scalability (how quick it can scale up to hundreds or thousands of sites). This scalability is mostly used to target the Long Tail of sites that common aggregators find complicated or too labor-intensive to harvest content from.
Semantic annotation recognizing[edit]
The pages being scraped may embrace metadata or semantic markups and annotations, which can be used to locate specific data snippets. If the annotations are embedded in the pages, as Microformat does, this technique can be viewed as a special case of DOM parsing. In another case, the annotations, organized into a semantic layer,[4] are stored and managed separately from the web pages, so the scrapers can retrieve data schema and instructions from this layer before scraping the pages.
Computer vision web-page analysis[edit]
There are efforts using machine learning and computer vision that attempt to identify and extract information from web pages by interpreting pages visually as a human being might.[5]

Example tools[edit]
• cURL – command line tool and library for transferring (including getting) data with URLs supporting a wide range of HTTP methods (GET, POST, cookies, etc.)
• Data Toolbar – web scraping add-on for Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome Web browsers that collects and converts structured data from web pages into a tabular format that can be loaded into a spreadsheet or database management program.
• Diffbot – uses computer vision and machine learning to automatically extract data from web pages by interpreting pages visually as a human being might.
• Heritrix – gets pages (lots of them). It is a web crawler designed for web archiving, written by the Internet Archive (see Wayback Machine).
• HtmlUnit – headless browser that can be used for retrieving web pages, web scraping, and more.
• HTTrack – free and open source Web crawler and offline browser, designed to download websites.
• iMacros – a browser extension to record, code, share and replay browser automation (javascript)
• Selenium (software) – a portable software-testing framework for web applications
• Jaxer
• Mozenda – is a WYSIWYG software that offers cloud, onsite, and data wrangling services.
• nokogiri
• OutWit Hub – Web scraping application including built-in data, image, document extractors and editors for custom scrapers and automatic exploration and extraction jobs (free and paid versions)
• watir –
• Wget – computer program that retrieves content from web servers. It is part of the GNU Project. It supports downloading via the HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP protocols.
• WSO2 Mashup Server –
• Yahoo! Query Language (YQL) –
Javascript tools[edit]
• Greasemonkey
• Node.js
• PhantomJS – scripted, headless browser used for automating web page interaction.
• jQuery
Web crawling frameworks[edit]
These can be used to build web scrapers.
• Scrapy
• GoogleScraper a framework written in Python3 which supports scraping with automated real browsers.[6]
• Venom, a multi-threaded focused crawling framework for the structured deep web, written in Java (licensed under Apache License).[7]

Thing (assembly)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Folkmoot" redirects here. For the festival, see Folkmoot USA.
Further information: Medieval Scandinavian laws

Germanic thing, drawn after the depiction in a relief of the Column of Marcus Aurelius (193 CE)
A thing [a] was the governing assembly of an early Germanic society, made up of the free people of the community presided over by lawspeakers. The word appears in Old Norse, Old English, and modern Icelandic as þing,[b] in Middle English (as in modern English), Old Saxon, Old Dutch, and Old Frisian as thing, in German as Ding, and in modern Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Faroese, Gutnish, and Norn as ting, all from a reconstructed Proto-Germanic neuter *þingą; the word is the same as the more common English word thing, both having at their heart the basic meaning of "an assemblage, a coming together of parts"—in the one case, an "assembly" or "meeting", in the other, an "entity", "object", or "thing". The meeting-place of a thing was called a "thingstead" (Old English þingstede) or "thingstow" (Old English þingstōw).
The Anglo-Saxon folkmoot (Old English folcgemōt, "folk meeting"; Middle English folkesmōt; modern Norwegian folkemøte) was analogous, the forerunner to the witenagemōt and a precursor of the modern Parliament of the United Kingdom.
Today the term lives on in the English term hustings, in the official names of national legislatures and political and judicial institutions of Nordic countries and, in the Manx form tyn, as a term for the three legislative bodies on the Isle of Man.

Introduction
What is ZeroNet?¶
ZeroNet uses Bitcoin cryptography and BitTorrent technology to build a decentralized censorship-resistant network.
Users can publish static or dynamic websites to ZeroNet and visitors can choose to also serve the site themselves. Websites will remain online as long as one peer is still online.
When a site is updated by its owner, all nodes serving that site (previous visitors) will receive only the incremental updates made to the site content.
ZeroNet comes with a built-in SQL database. This makes content-heavy site development easy. The DB is then synced to hosting nodes via incremental updates.
Why?¶
• We believe in open, free, and uncensored communication.
• No censorship: After something is published there is no way to remove it.
• No single point of failure: Content remains online even if only one peer is serving it.
• Impossible to shut down: It's nowhere because it's everywhere. Content is served by any user who wishes to.
• Fast: ZeroNet uses BitTorrent technology to deliver content faster than centralised servers.
• Works offline: You can access the site even if your internet is unavailable.
• Secure: Content ownership is secured using the same cryptography that secures your Bitcoin wallet.
Features¶
• Easy, zero configuration setup.
• Password-less BIP32 based authorization: Your account is protected by the same cryptography as your Bitcoin wallet.
• Sites updated in real-time, no refreshing needed.
• Namecoin .bit domains support.
• SQL Database support: Allows for easier site development and faster page load times.
• Anonymity: Full Tor network support with .onion hidden services instead of ipv4 addresses.
• TLS encrypted connections.
• Automatic, uPnP port opening.
• Plugin for multiuser (openproxy) support.
• Works with any browser/OS.
How does it work?¶
• After you install and run ZeroNet, you open a site by visiting:http://127.0.0.1:43110/{zeronet_site_address} (e.g.http://127.0.0.1:43110/1HeLLo4uzjaLetFx6NH3PMwFP3qbRbTf3D).
• ZeroNet will then use the BitTorrent network to find peers that are seeding the site and will download the site content (HTML, CSS, JS...) from these peers.
• Each site visited is then served by your client. Sites can removed or blacklisted if necessary.
• Every site contains a list of all of its files, each entry containing a SHA512 hash and a signature generated using the site owner's private key.
• If the site owner modifies the site, then he/she signs a new list and publishes it to the peers. After the peers have verified the files list integrity (using the signature), they download the modified files and publish the new content to other peers.

Everipedia
Everipedia (/ˌɛvərɪˈpiːdiə, ˌɛvəri-/) is a wiki-based online encyclopedia. Founded in December 2014, the site was launched in January 2015 as a fork of Wikipedia. It is owned by Everipedia, Inc., a for-profit company headquartered in Westwood, Los Angeles, California. As of October 2017, the majority of Everipedia pages are copies of Wikipedia articles.
The site's name is a portmanteau of the words "everything" and "encyclopedia". Everipedia aims to build the most accessible online encyclopedia, and not be as restrictive as Wikipedia.[3] Everipedia adapted social media elements such as letting celebrities communicate with fans,[4] and allows users to create pages on any topic as long as the content is cited and neutral.[5][6] As of 2018, the site has been criticized for presenting false information on breaking news events, and for its original articles being focused on sensational topics such as YouTubers.

The company uses EOS blockchain technology and a cryptocurrency token called IQ to encourage content generation and to stop certain countries from blocking its content. Everipedia launched on the EOS blockchain on August 9, 2018.

EU REFERENDUM VOTE BY PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCY
This map uses data compiled by Dr Chris Hanretty, a reader in politics at the University of East Anglia to show how the vote in the EU Referendum was reflected across Parliamentary constituencies. It uses ward-level data, a BBC FOI, local authority information and census data. Due to the way in which the data had to be compiled, and because the boundaries of constituencies don't perfectly map to other boundaries there is a margin of error in the data. The data for this map was published in an article on iNews the link for which is below. Use the 'Select data field' drop down to toggle between the way constituencies voted, 'leave' MPs in 'remain' constituencies, and the % distribution of leave votes by constituency.
