Hello again beloved readers, right after yesterday posts I started catching up with lots of projects. In this month’s beginning started a new illustration challenge: Magical March, which is about Mahou Shoujo or Magical Girl.

Sé que probablemente estás pensando en que aún no terminé el Witchy Challenge o el Inktober de 2017, pero no los he dejado olvidados, los seguiré haciendo en segundo plano mientras me dedico a este reto, al cual simplemente no me pude resistir porque amo demasiado la temática de Chica Mágica. Creo que con este tema de los retos queda demostrado que incluso con los compromisos soy una acumuladora, adgfadjhgda.

I know you are probably thinking about I haven’t finished the Witchy Challenge or 2017’s Inktober but I haven’t forgot about them and I’ll continue with them as well along this challenge that I just couldn’t resist to start since I ADORE magical girls. I think you are starting to notice that I’m a hoarder, even with challenges and work.

El tema del día 1 (que ya sé que hoy es 2, pero lo publico hoy porque llegué super tarde a mi casa anoche e igual lo hice apenas llegué) es tu Magical Girl favorita y en este caso he escogido a Daidouji Tomoyo, pero, ¿Por qué, si Tomoyo no tiene poderes? Siento que es un personaje al cual el fandom no le ha dado tanto amor como a Sakura, así que quería mostrar mi aprecio por ella en esta ocasión con este super sencillo fanart.

The Day 1 Theme is your favorite Magical Girl (yeah, I know today is March 2nd but I arrived home quite late last night so I couldn’t post this after finishing it) and in this case I decided to choose Daidouji Tomoyo, but why? I know she’s not a Mahou Shoujo but I feel she’s a quite underrated character compared to Sakura so I wanted to give her some love with this quick fanart.

Iniciamos con el proceso ~ Let’s start with the process

Tras bocetear a lápiz (que no le tomé foto porque se me olvidó), comencé a delinear (pero ahí está parte del boceteado para que le hagan ojitos <3).

After sketching with a graphite pencil (I forgot to take a pic of the sketch, lol) I started with the linework (you can see a little part of both outlining and sketch in here)

Borré todas las líneas a lápiz tras terminar el delineado con marcadores ultrafinos en negro y rojo.

I erased all pencil lines right after finishing my linework with ultrafine black and red Paper Mate markers.

Rellené el cabello , el blazer y los zapatos con marcadores Sharpie en gris y Negro.

I filled the hair, blazer and shoes with black and grey Sharpie markers.

Y agregué un fondito sencillo para dar realce a la ilustración. Realmente los fondos hacen la diferencia <3

Then I added a simple background for the illustration to highlight. Backgrounds make lots of difference <3

Bastante sencillo y me sirvió para trabajar en manejar mejor la velocidad, que es algo que me cuesta mucho a veces. Me causa algo de gracia el recordar ahora que cuando comencé el Inktober de 2017 todo el tema de pintar a marcador me daba TERROR, porque era algo que no había manejado casi nunca. Me alegra que ya eso ha ido cambiando poco a poco. También estoy feliz de estar manejando un cánon más similar a lo que quiero lograr con la figura humana. Aún estoy trabajando en mi estilo y me alegra mucho el ver también que pude adaptar este tierno personaje sin hacer que perdiera su esencia inocente y cálida.

This was quite simple and useful for practicing velocity which is kind of difficult to me sometimes. Now it feels funny to remember that the last Inktober I was super scared about using markers since I almost never used them. It makes me happy to see that I’ve improved with markers and I’m glad to see I’m using a canon for human figure that’s closer to my goals. I’m still working on my style and I absolutely love that I could draw this lovely character on my current style without making her lose the innocence and warmness she shows in the series.

En definitiva: La práctica y la constancia son el verdadero secreto al éxito.

However: Practice and constancy are the path for success.
