Battery
Once charged, the charge can last up to three years but no need to worry; it will alert you on your phone when the battery reaches 5% remaining. It should be noted that the length of the battery life greatly depends on the features chosen. The TappLite comes with a 6 month rechargeable battery.
Practical Usage
Anywhere you currently use a padlock, lockers, bicycles, sheds, gates, doors, backpacks, toolbox, storage chest, designed for those most precious items.
Pricing
Depending on the number of features one chooses, these locks are estimated to be priced between $50 and $200. While that may seem a bit pricey for a simple padlock, this padlock should not be considered simple. Not to indicate a level of difficulty yet to rise to the specialty level, for those items in life we value as special, often require a lock. This just may very well be that lock.

I am reminded of the saying a lock only keeps an honest person out. I am a personal believer that if a thief truly wants something they will find a way to get to it. I like the alarm sounding if it is tampered with, as a feature, even though we live in a culture where alarms go off at all hours and we have become immune to the sound. I would have been alerted via phone to go and check my belongings. I question the life of the screen reading the fingerprint after a year or two exposed to the elements, not just rain, but more importantly the glaring sun.

Interesting Im curious where they will go with this as the technology becomes more available. Probably one of my biggest issues with it though is that from a legal view-point your finger prints are not protected. Meaning that no warrant is necessary for the use of your finger prints without your consent. This makes me wary of using devices or objects that use your finger print to keep things secure.
This seems to be a huge concern to the developers as well. As I understand it, the company never stores your fingerprint, only your phone, but I could be wrong and a 3rd party involved by way of the app itself. Either way, I was impressed at how much of a concern the company has to that issue itself.

Interesting new gadget. I was wondering about its ability to read fingerprints after being exposed to rain and sun, too.
