Costly Opinions

The chaos of the collapsing substructure of society. There is an order to nature and life, whether we like it or not. We can choose to ignore this and ignore the fact that humans are part of the natural life on this planet, and therefore subject to the order or nature...shocking. In our tumultuous climate, I often remember learning about biological fitness in college. For me, it was one of Biology's most interesting topics. I often wondered if humans had surpassed biological fitness to a certain extent. The future of a species can rise and fall based on their biological fitness, in short, their ability to keep generations of their species moving forward. Technically things like homosexuality, incest, transgenderism, etc can be detrimental to the biological fitness of a species. Creating fewer humans for the next generation, or ones less fit to succeed would hinder biological fitness.

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert and I'm sure there are better explanations. I did not major in biology and only took a few courses, along with physics and chemistry for pre-med. I wanted to go into Physical Therapy but chose Political Science and Mass Communication instead.

Other things can hinder biological fitness as well. Drugs, less than ideal living conditions, poor health, etc. But with billions of humans of the planet at this point is there anything that could really happen to stop us or affect our biological fitness in any great way? I concluded the answer was probably not. I didn't see the extent of where society could go at the time. I strongly believe in personal liberties, but also strongly believe in free speech and the right to discuss whether or not something is beneficial to people and society despite what we may want or desire. The issue with this is hot head wanna be troll gods that can't stfu long enough to think about what they're doing. The cultural tension in America is at an all-time high. This has caused us to put out fires sparked by contention rather than thinking about the long-term effects of our decisions.

Everyone is too worried about someone trying to throw hypothetical molotov cocktails at their exalted ideologies to engage in civilized discourse. Societal shifts being of detriment to our biological fitness is somewhat ethereal and doesn't affect us in the short term. What does affect us in the short term is forced speech because it's illegal for me to call you sir or ma'am because I can't assume which of the genders on the ever-growing list you identify as just by looking at you. What does affects us in the short term is acceptance of incest. People said it was okay if they didn't have kids. If I asked people to raise their hands if they knew someone who had a kid when they weren't trying to just about everyone would raise their hands. What does affect us in the short term is people protesting a restaurant because of the owner's personal beliefs as if eating their chicken is going to infect you with some religious right pathogen and reprogram your brain to be against gay marriage. What does affect us in the short term is a CNN host, who brother is the governor or New York, thinking 12-year-old girls are the ones with a problem if they don't want a person (who I will not identify as a man since that would trigger them) with a penis naked in their locker room. What does affect us in the short term is a supreme court justice who is apologetic and dang near defensive of pedophilia.

This is what happens when people would rather not have an opinion because the thought police, all wannabe troll gods, will nip at your ankles until you can't take it anymore. It's not even a fear of having an opinion as much as it is dealing with the nuisance of formulating an opinion. The cost of our ideological conclusions is higher than ever in modern America and no one wants to deal with hypothetical molotov cocktails. Everyday life is annoying enough without having to deal with that. The scary part of lacking diversity in ideologies that shape the policy and culture of a nation, and foregoing the founding the principles of our nation, is its invitation of totalitarianism and fascism. We are already showing the symptoms of this disease. Silencing opinions and ideologies is the hallmark of fascism and communism. It is the precursor to subjecting a nation to the absolution of a totalitarian ideocracy. Something that does affect us in the short term. The longer the substructure of our society is eroded, the more costly our opinions and ideas become, and the closer we get to that structure being trampled upon to make a platform for an ideological absolution. Something much scarier and more imposing than decreasing our biological fitness. This is the order of nature that will bite us on the rear end if we do not choose to acknowledge the laws and tendencies of human nature for the desire of personal lust for our individual utopias. Wanting our individual utopias will result in the oppression of others. If only one idea wins, then every other idea must subject itself, and you may be one of the many under subjection. Our pride and insistence of our moral uprightness, no matter what our moralities are, will be our downfall.
