Pieris brassicae caterpillar cacoon - Follow up

Still hasn't hatched, but the cool thing i've discovered was worth writing about and taking some pics.

Sooo... appearantly if one touches the cacoon - the larva inside'll moves its tail - look 😳

In those last 3 pics u can actualy see the different angels of the cacoon tail after i touched it a bit.

I think its a defense instinct to scare away predetores.

Ha ha! I can't imagine that the little swish of the tail would scare away predators.
